When writing a credit dispute letter there are many items and information that must be included in this letter for it to be considered valid. The individual should request a copy of their credit report from all three major credit reporting agencies. Each of these reports must be evaluated carefully for any mistakes or errors. Any accounts or listings that are wrong or don\’t belong to the individual must be circled and marked on the credit rating.

Once all 3 reports have been evaluated and any problems are noted the letter disputing these can be made. The full name of the person must be clearly listed on top of the letter, along with the address including the state and zip code. Make sure to include the creditor or reporting company name in the heading, and the words Complaint Department. The home address of the person receiving the letter should be included on the heading .

After the heading of the credit dispute letter is included the salutation of the letter company like. A good beginning would be dear sir or madam, and then the letter should continue to say that the following items listed on the credit report are being questioned. Make sure to attach a copy of the credit report with the questioned accounts circled and noted clearly.

Make sure to include what action is being requested. In some instances this may be the removal of an account that does not belong to an individual, or the request may simply be to update the account with the correct account and present balance information. It\’s also important to attach any important documentation to the letter. If there\’s any court record of identity fraud,statements showing a various balance due, or other documents make sure you send out a copy.

It is important to dispute any errors on a credit report though, in order that these can be solved in a timely manner. There are lots of dispute form letters and templates available online that can aid any consumer dispute an error or remove an invalid debt.
