Cape Cod, Massachusetts – A 23-year-old Mashpee man is charged with stealing a T-shirt and a cellphone from a man who had just died of a heroin overdose, leaving the man’s corpse “shirtless,” according to court records.
Michael C. Averett, of 251 Great Neck Road, was also charged with larceny from a building. The incidents happened in October. He pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Thursday in Falmouth District Court.
He was ordered held in lieu of $ 5,000 cash bail and is due back in court Feb. 6 for a pretrial hearing.
