SAN FRANCISCO – More than one million Xbox One consoles were sold worldwide in less than 24 hours following its launch on Friday, Microsoft’s Xbox said in a statement on its website. It is the biggest launch in Xbox’s history and the consoles are sold out at most retailers, the company said. However, it’s not clear whether this momentum will be sustained as the reviews for Xbox One-exclusive games have received mediocre reviews, Mike Hickey, an analyst at Benchmark, said in a report ahead of the release. Competitor Sony Corp. had earlier this week launched its new generation PlayStation 4 to a strong reception, also selling more than one million consoles in the first 24 hours.
