After a few months of construction, we finally had our new basement remodeled. Our old concrete flooring was replaced with hard redwood flooring and our walls were covered up as well. This, combined with a new downstairs bathroom and the addition of a TV and newer furniture, made the transformation of our basement well worth every penny spent to remodel the house.

There are many people who love living on Long Island because of how much flexibility you have with designing your home. But while some things on a home may work for a long time, you will need to update things after a while. Changing up rooms and adding on new and remodeled features to the house.

As of a few years, I started to have a problem in regards to my personal space. With the amount of clutter and junk covering every inch of my bedroom, I was quickly beginning to run out of room for more things and I was finding it difficult to keep myself sane and entertained in that room. Even after having a couple yard sales to get rid of a lot of the extraneous clutter in my bedroom, there was still plenty more to spare. I needed to find a place to transfer a lot of my stuff too and to find a place where I could keep myself busy, work and stay out of my parents\’ hair. When we were collectively contemplating what to do with my bedroom situation, my family and I realized the obviousness that our basement was going virtually unused. It was being used mainly as a junk storage room for much of my dad\’s work tools and nothing else. This would give more space for not only my room, but other rooms of the house too.

There was a rather long procedure that we had in our minds to ensure that the basement would be as built-up as we were hoping for it to be. Finally, we would fill in the last bits of the room with a TV, computer and couch.

Fortunately for us, once the construction on our basement commenced, there wasn\’t too much trouble for us since this would all be taking place out of the way of the rest of us in our basement. All the construction paid off though because we were amazed at how luxurious the new basement looked and how it would serve as a brand new place for me to work on the computer or to bring guests into.

While it may be understandable to be hesitant to want to invest a great deal of money into refurnishing a home, it should also be remembered that this may be something worth spending money on since it can lead to a great new place to entertain guests and make into a home theater or computer room like mine was.
