JOE SCARBOROUGH: Reagan and Eisenhower, how funny that Eisenhower has long been decried as this moderate establishment Republican, now the National Review and a lot of other people are looking at this guy — and this happened really after Barack Obama to elected — that two president have had trouble managing the presidency in a row, suddenly Dwight Eisenhower, and competence, and conservatism with a small C makes a lot of sense. Listen, we have to be conservative ideologically. The idea that, oh, we need to get more moderate presidential candidates, that flies in the face of history. Moderate Republicans don’t win elections. But you’ve got to be conservative ideologically, but moderate temperamentally.
