I thought I’d share some thoughts on this subject.

May You Live in Interesting Times‘

This “Chinese curse” (see link) has always fascinated me since
I first heard it when I was a little boy. It is in fact a perfect
example of the “Magician’s Trick” or Psyop. It’s the very
definition of “Look here! Look here!” All the while the “real
action” is going on elsewhere. This is also why I love the
“Little Red Wagon Story” so much. But on to the subject
material.

Now I’m not going to discuss what is being “hidden”; what the
“real truth is”; I’ve done some of that in other posts, and as
things come into clearer focus (if they do), I’ll continue with
those threads. This post discusses a broad overview of the
Disinformation Campaign itself.

I suppose the first thing to mention, is that as we know, humans
seem to be stuck in a rut. History seems to repeat itself endlessly.
We watch empires form and fall; and none of them learn how to
avoid that cycle. In fact most of the same things seem to take
those empires down. Yet we form empires and watch them fall
endlessly. Now it is certainly true that the problem is humans
themselves; that we have evolved a certain way, and that we are
much the same today as we were 200,000 years ago. Oh sure
we have evolved in some ways, but the deep hungers, the deep
perceptual biases seem unchanged.

Looking back over the course of human history, something seems
obvious to me. There is always *something* which catches human
attention and directs it away from what matters. Now what matters
is open to debate; but perhaps learning to live in peace and not
destroying our environment might be a good start (humans have
destroyed their environment on a local basis since day one). But
this isn’t about solutions in this thread, but identifying the disinfo
campaign.

Looking back in the past, some of the following seem classic elements
of the disinfo campaign:

1) “the other guy” is evil and wants to take your stuff! Help me kill him
so that you’ll be distracted and then *I* can take your stuff!

2) “we have god on our side” and can do whatever we want to the other
guy! We are righteous and the guy whose stuff we want is a HEATHEN!
And while you are in a religious frenzy, I can control you utterly and
take your stuff!

3) We are on the side of GOOD and everyone who disagrees with us is on the
side of EVIL! Since they are EVIl they are ‘coming for us’! You will be so
hypnotized by this ‘conspiracy’ that I could steal your pants while you are
wearing them, and you’d never notice it!

4) Supernatural GOOD and Supernatural EVIl exists! The world doesn’t matter;
what matters is the NEXT WORLD! While you moon and sign about the next
world, I can burn down THIS ONE and you won’t even care!

5) “Democrats” are Evil. Republicans are Evil. While you doofuses fight it out,
I’ll keep printing money and giving it to myself! I’ll transfer all your assets
to myself while you are fighting, until I own your bare naked ass entirely!

6) The World is an Illusion! Don’t believe in it! Your fate is to reincarnate
for most of eternally “to get better 1 inch at a time”; while you are suffering
gracefully and preventing yourself from feeling (it’s attachment! bad attachment!)
I’ll control your very essence almost forever.. and control your world.. and you’ll
thank me that the Earth is a school!

7) I’ll create all these conspiracies! The Illuminati is my favorite! Reptilian aliens
and rogue planets full of aliens lurking in the solar system is another favorite!
“Angels” screwing our Earth women! Oh boy! that will get you hypnotized by
that for 2,000 years!

8) So you are starting to get jaded with all the other conspiracies, lies and
deceptions are you? Well I got it! Aliens! in Ships (tee hee). The nearest
REAL aliens that have ray guns are 5 galaxies away! No problem! I’ll just
materialize ships for you.. and the closer you get to one, the farther away
you’ll be from catching one or proving one! Oh my! This is the most delicious
thing yet! And what’s the biggest gas of all? I’ll siphon your very beings to
power this little pony ride! Look at the alien.. Look at the alien.. and don’t
see the one pulling the strings..

9) Enlightenment! Now that’s the other one that is so delicious. You use your
free will to reach out to grab ‘energy’! You want ‘energy’? sure.. here is
some.. it’s wiggling and has a tail too! Only you won’t notice that will
you? Oh look! your mind Is adapting to this ‘symbiote’ you pulled into
your brain. It’s neural plasticity is invigorating your speech centers.. and
making you babble enlightenment nonsense nonstop! You really don’t
know jack.. but you won’t ever stop telling people about it.. as long as
you wear that ‘enlightenment title’ I own you! How delicious. Now is
there real spiritual evolution? Sure. But I won’t let knowledge about that
which might free you into the world! I’ll fill the world with ‘holy books’
and your Amazon full of ‘get enlightened now books!” Oh the printing
press was my best invention until the Internet! Ah the Internet.. the
beginning of my robot army!

Now the 21st century is particularly eye-opening. As one disinfo campaign
weakens.. another pops up to take it’s place.. just when people are finally
coming to realize that Masonry is a boring old guys club, why then Hollywood
stars are now working for the Illuminati.

People are starting to disbelieve that physical UFO’s exist? Well then lets
show them how they are energy balls instead! That will get them focusing
on UFO’s for another 50 years! Even scientists who don’t believe in physical
UFO’s due to an understanding of basic physics, will eventually believe in
‘precognitive sentient phenomenon’! They’ll think that it has something to
do with energy plasmas and quantum effects! Now of course the same
phenomenon — “us” and our ability to materialize things has been behind
all of these phenomena since day one.. so this is a DANGEROUS psyop we
are playing here.. someone might figure this out.. but we just need another
50 years.. so there is no other choice.. we have run out of ridiculous
distractions.. this lie is so close to the truth it will be the most effective
of all! I’ll drop some hints to a few Generals and even in ATS! Gosh that
is my favorite place on the Internet!

Dr. Craig Venter, who helped map the human genome, created the world’s first synthetic lifeform, using chemicals and inserting DNA into the cell of a bacteria.

No, it’s not an episode of V, it was a 1970s real-life hijacking of Southern Television in England by the “alien” Vrillon, as reported by The Kernel:

26 November 1977 was a deeply cold night in England. The regional station Southern Television was just beginning its evening news bulletin and families across South-East England gathered together in their living rooms to watch the news. Children waited impatiently for Looney Tunes, which they knew would be shown directly after the news programme.

As Andrew Gardner read out news of the conflict in Rhodesia, a hissing, shuffling sound drowned out his voice. Suddenly, a booming voice addressed the startled viewers, as the screen still showed the oblivious newsreader reading through the day’s headlines.

This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you.

It was now ten past five in the evening. With the news report still continuing on the screen, the deep, oscillating voice continued with his message.

For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies.

None of the evening staff at Southern Television were aware of the intrusion to their signal. International Broadcasting Authority engineers in Croydon, Surrey did not hear the rogue signal, nor was it detected at the main transmitter site in Southampton.

The message from “Vrillon” continued for nearly six minutes as stunned families across South-East England tried to comprehend what they were hearing. Some panicked, believing that aliens really were communicating through the television…

The Message Voyager 1 Carries for Alien Civilizations

The year was 1977. Jimmy Carter was president. Rod Stewart topped the Billboard chart with “Tonight’s the Night (Gonna Be Alright).” Oil was scarce. The U.S. economy was in recession. The era’s wide ties and even wider pant legs belied the fact that, among many, patience was thin. Into that turbulent and redolent and somewhat cynical world — and on behalf of it – NASA launched two little probes, tiny even by spaceship standards, from Cape Canaveral. Voyager 1 and its twin, Voyager 2, were initially meant to explore Jupiter, Saturn, and their moons. They did that. But then they kept going. And going. And going. At a rate of 35,000 miles per hour. One of them, almost 35 years to the day after it left Earth behind, finally ventured beyond the influence of the body that has defined so much of life on Earth: the sun.

The Voyager probes are technically unmanned; in another sense, however, they carry all of humanity with them as they speed through space. Each craft bears an object that is, in every way, a record — of Earth, of humanity, of humanity’s drive to reach and strive and dream and connect. The two epic mementos, given the sunny hue of their aluminum coverings, have been dubbed the Golden Records. They were the product of Carl Sagan and a team that, in January 1977, realized the far-traveling probes would stand a better chance than most human spacecraft would of encountering extraterrestrial life. So they decided to undertake a daunting task, one that was both uniquely human and uniquely of its moment: They would make a record that would, if discovered by aliens, represent humanity. They would make a time capsule of human civilization. One that would, as NASA puts it, “to communicate a story of our world to extraterrestrials.”

Telling that story was, as team member Ann Druyan puts it in the phenomenal “Space” episode of Radiolab, “a sacred undertaking.” She and Sagan and their group of, as she calls them, “half a dozen very flawed human beings” had taken it upon themselves to represent humanity as a culture and also as an aesthetic — to explain to anyone who (or to anything that) might be out there who, and what, we’re all about. They arrived at the idea during a meeting of the American Astronomical Society in January 1977; the Voyager probes would launch in late August and early September. Representing the entirety of human achievement in a single recording would have to be done quickly. 

So the group, as humans are wont to do, divided the labor. Jon Lomberg was in charge of assembling pictures of Earth. Timothy Ferris selected the music. Druyan, the project’s creative director (and later the co-writer, with Sagan, of Cosmos, and, as of 1981, Sagan’s wife) oversaw the record’s “Sounds of Earth” essay. Linda Salzman collected greetings from people around the world. Sagan served as the liaison with NASA. The team set about researching — talking to historians and artists and ethnomusicologists. They reached out to political groups and documentarians. They recorded humans speaking — among them, in perhaps the record’s most iconic track, Sagan’s young son saying, “Greetings from the children of planet Earth.”

The result was a time capsule that was (and still is, somewhere out there in space) much more suggestive than summative. Included on the pair of Golden Records that blasted from Earth in 1977 are sounds of the planet, including surf and wind and thunder. The record shares the tweetings of birds, and the calls of humpback whales, and the hootings of chimpanzees. It includes, via Salzman’s work, spoken greetings from earthlings rendered in 55 languages — starting with Akkadian, spoken in Sumer about 6,000 years ago, and culminating with Wu, a modern Chinese dialect. There’s music, 90 minutes’ worth of it — music that includes classic tunes from cultures around the globe, including the first two bars of Beethoven’s String Quartet No. 13 in B Flat. Jimmy Carter sent a message of greeting on the record. So did U.N. Secretary General Waldheim. 

And though the Golden Record does, indeed, adopt the form and the logic of a standard, late-’70s-era record, it’s more accurately thought of as a kind of early CD: Its archive contains images from Earth (118 of them) as well as sound.

So how would a notional extraterrestrial, encountering this sweeping record of human existence, actually play it? Like you’d play any record. (NASA apparently assumed that alien civilizations, should they be sufficiently advanced, would be familiar with vinyl. Which is fair.) Each Golden Record is encased in a protective aluminum jacket, along with a cartridge and, yep, a needle. And both include instructions – in the symbolic language you can see etched in the image above — that both explain the origin of the Voyager crafts and indicate how the record is meant to be played. (Ideally, NASA explains, the record is played at 16-2/3 revolutions per minute.) The logic of all this is simple: It will be tens of thousands of years (if ever) before either Voyager can make a close approach to any planetary system that lies beyond our own. “The spacecraft,” Carl Sagan put it, ”will be encountered and the record played only if there are advanced spacefaring civilizations in interstellar space.”

He added: “But the launching of this bottle into the cosmic ocean says something very hopeful about life on this planet.”

The two Voyager craft, of course, aren’t the first to contain messages for beings that are foreign to us by virtue of either place of origin or stretch of time. The moon still bears the plaque left on its surface by the astronauts of Apollo: “We came in peace for all mankind.” And Pioneers 10 and 11, which preceded Voyagers 1 and 2, both carried small, metal plaques that identified both their time and place of origin — “for the benefit,” NASA has it, “of any other spacefarers that might find them in the distant future.” 

But the Golden Records carry more than (English) words. They carry our culture. They carry the transcendent aspects of human existence: the art, the beauty, the ache, the joy. They offer what we have, and what we are, up to the cosmos — and up to anyone who might call the same space home. As Jimmy Carter, president when Earth’s two Voyagers launched, put it: “This is a present from a small, distant world, a token of our sounds, our science, our images, our music, our thoughts and our feelings. We are attempting to survive our time so we may live into yours.”
