Oklahoma Fox station cuts evolution from "Cosmos" by editing only 15 seconds

Oklahoma Fox station cuts evolution from

In what appeared to be an editing error, a Fox affiliate in Oklahoma managed to remove the only mention of evolution from Sunday night’s Cosmos science documentary by cutting only 15 seconds from the broadcast.

The much-anticipated reboot of Carl Sagan’s legendary Cosmos premiered on Sunday with an overview of the history of the Universe, from the Big Bang to the advent of humans.

It wasn’t until the last 10 minutes of the show that host Neil deGrasse Tyson hinted at human evolution.

“We are newcomers to the Cosmos,” he explained. “Our own story only begins on the last night of the cosmic year.”

“Three and a half million years ago, our ancestors — your and mine left these traces,” Tyson said, pointing to footprints. “We stood up and parted ways from them. Once we were standing on two feet, our eyes were no longer fixated on the ground. Now, we were free to look up and wonder.”

But for viewers of KOKH-TV in Oklahoma City, that 15 second paragraph was replaced by an awkwardly-inserted commercial for the evening news. The edit was caught on video and uploaded to YouTube by Adam Bates.

At least one of the segments advertised in the news promo — a story about a 12-year-old bow hunter — did air on that evening’s newscast.

China: Train station attack an act of terrorism

BEIJING (AP) — China’s official Xinhua News Agency says authorities consider the attack by a group of knife-wielding assailants at a train station in southwestern China in which at least 27 people died to be an act of terrorism.

Xinhua did not identify who might have been responsible for the Saturday evening attack at the Kunming Railway Station in Yunnan province. But the news agency said authorities considered it to be “an organized, premeditated violent terrorist attack.”

Local television station K6 said that several of the attackers were shot by police and that victims were transported to local hospitals. Xinhua says 27 people were killed and 109 others injured.

The Communist Party-run People’s Daily reports that China’s top police official, Politburo member Meng Jianzhu, is en route to Kunming, an indication of how seriously authorities view the attack.

NASA Video : UFO Spaceship Docked At International Space Station

Down below video shows the futuristic looking yellow UFO docked at the ISS for just over two minutes with the Earth slowly rotating in the background. The video ends with ISS live feed going into blue screen mode.

This likely indicates that NASA cut the ISS live feed once it was realized that the video of the UFO docked at the ISS was going live to the world. The docking positioning of the UFO suggests that it is not the result of a camera anomaly but a genuine spacecraft of unknown origin.

The incident happened on January 29, 2014 and was transmitted by NASA’s live camera feed of the ISS which is made freely available on the internet to the general public on Ustream. The live camera feed was recorded by Youtube user Streetcap1 on January 29.

Video shows that the UFO was stationary and appeared to be docked with the ISS. The UFO is seen clearly in relation to the ISS thereby allowing for an accurate estimate of its size. One estimate was 10 meters in length.

While the earth slowly rotates, the UFO remains stationary suggesting it is not a lensflare, glare, reflected image or other kind of camera anomaly. A schematic of the ISS (see attached picture) shows the UFO was docked between the Soyuz escape module and the Russian research and service module. If a UFO was to dock with the ISS, this would be one of the five active docking locations where it could so in order for personnel to be transferred on to the ISS.

Plasma-Powered UFO Technology Spaceship

Down below is a sketch of proposed design of MHD power spacecraft which looks similar to what we saw in above video.

According to 2007 media report, magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) a concept explored by the power generation industry 50 years ago is being dusted off by NASA as a possible way of enabling jet engines to operate to higher speeds, to power hypersonic vehicles and reusable spaceplanes.

NASA has begun studying magnetohydrodynamic (MHD) energy bypass engine concepts under its revitalised hypersonics research programme, aimed at developing technology for a two-stage space access vehicle. The MHD energy bypass cycle could make it easier to design a combined-cycle propulsion system by allowing a turbine to accelerate the vehicle to hypersonic speed where a scramjet would take over.

Later in 2009, Subrata Roy, an aerospace engineer from the University of Florida, had also submitted a patent application for an aircraft powered by magnetohydrodynamics (a bulky title for the way energy generated as a current passes through a conducting fluid), WEAV would be able to lift off vertically and hover—”a saucer and a helicopter in one embodiment,” as Roy puts it.

Source : http://news.ufl.edu/2008/06/11/flying-saucer/

The location of the docking is very suggestive. If the UFO had occupants, did they actually enter the ISS? Finally, why the blue screen at the end of the live video feed, was this done by NASA to cover up what was happening at the ISS which was possibly an unannounced visit? NASA has a lot of questions to answer.

Conclusion : There are two possibilities docked UFO at ISS could be a advance UFO Technology Spaceship develop for space exploration by USA/Russia or even a Alien spaceship.

Women Forced to Strip at Police Station While Being Filmed -- Officials Say Filming Is "Common Industry Standard"

"They were snickering at these women," says a lawyer for one of the women who was filmed without her knowledge.

Nearly two dozen women have reported that they were forced to strip in a Washington police station while being recorded and watched by their male jailers.

“We’ve got dozens of other people calling who had similar experiences in Puyallup [city jail]. We’re sorting through them right now,” Seattle Attorney James Egan told King 5 News.

“I was told I needed to take off all my garments and change into the uniform,” said one woman who requested anonymity.

She refused the order, noting the presence of four male guards and one male inmate.

“Basically I was harassed for not doing it and put back in the holding cell and made to stay there for about 12 hours.”

City officials in Puyallup have defended the practice, arguing that filming in jails is a “common industry standard.”

But law enforcement experts say filming inmates while changing and using the bathroom is “highly unusual and improper,” according to King 5 News.

“They had originally told me to change behind a curtain in a designated area. But when I questioned them, it’s like they took it as insubordination instead of me simply asking a question,” said another woman. “And they sent me into this holding cell to change instead.”

“They asked me, ‘Is that everything? I told them, well, I still had my undergarments on. And they said I needed to take off everything. … And then I was shown the videos, and it was absolutely horrifying and embarrassing,” the woman said. “Honestly, it’s embarrassing, I feel violated.”

Others allege officers sexually harassed them while they changed, according to Egan.

“They were snickering at these women,” Egan said. “Called one woman a squatter, asked [a woman with red hair] if she’s red downstairs too.”

Alien Cult Takes Over British TV Station

Screen Shot 2013-09-23 at 10.00.48 AMNo, it’s not an episode of V, it was a 1970s real-life hijacking of Southern Television in England by the “alien” Vrillon, as reported by The Kernel:

26 November 1977 was a deeply cold night in England. The regional station Southern Television was just beginning its evening news bulletin and families across South-East England gathered together in their living rooms to watch the news. Children waited impatiently for Looney Tunes, which they knew would be shown directly after the news programme.

As Andrew Gardner read out news of the conflict in Rhodesia, a hissing, shuffling sound drowned out his voice. Suddenly, a booming voice addressed the startled viewers, as the screen still showed the oblivious newsreader reading through the day’s headlines.

This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you.

It was now ten past five in the evening. With the news report still continuing on the screen, the deep, oscillating voice continued with his message.

For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies.

None of the evening staff at Southern Television were aware of the intrusion to their signal. International Broadcasting Authority engineers in Croydon, Surrey did not hear the rogue signal, nor was it detected at the main transmitter site in Southampton.

The message from “Vrillon” continued for nearly six minutes as stunned families across South-East England tried to comprehend what they were hearing. Some panicked, believing that aliens really were communicating through the television…

[continues at The Kernel]

Full text of Vrillon’s message from Wikipedia:

  • This is the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. For many years you have seen us as lights in the skies. We speak to you now in peace and wisdom as we have done to your brothers and sisters all over this, your planet Earth.

  • We come to warn you of the destiny of your race and your world so that you may communicate to your fellow beings the course you must take to avoid the disaster which threatens your world, and the beings on our worlds around you. This is in order that you may share in the great awakening, as the planet passes into a New Age of Aquarius. The New Age can be a time of great peace and evolution for your race, but only if your rulers are made aware of the evil forces that can overshadow their judgments.

  • Be still now and listen, for your chance may not come again.

  • All your weapons of evil must be removed. The time for conflict is now past and the race of which you are a part may proceed to the higher stages of its evolution if you show yourselves worthy to do this. You have but a short time to learn to live together in peace and goodwill.

  • Small groups all over the planet are learning this, and exist to pass on the light of the dawning New Age to you all. You are free to accept or reject their teachings, but only those who learn to live in peace will pass to the higher realms of spiritual evolution.

  • Hear now the voice of Vrillon, a representative of the Ashtar Galactic Command, speaking to you. Be aware also that there are many false prophets and guides operating in your world. They will suck your energy from you – the energy you call money and will put it to evil ends and give you worthless dross in return.

  • Your inner divine self will protect you from this. You must learn to be sensitive to the voice within that can tell you what is truth, and what is confusion, chaos and untruth. Learn to listen to the voice of truth which is within you and you will lead yourselves onto the path of evolution.

  • This is our message to our dear friends. We have watched you growing for many years as you too have watched our lights in your skies. You know now that we are here, and that there are more beings on and around your Earth than your scientists admit.

  • We are deeply concerned about you and your path towards the light and will do all we can to help you. Have no fear, seek only to know yourselves, and live in harmony with the ways of your planet Earth. We of the Ashtar Galactic Command thank you for your attention. We are now leaving the plane of your existence. May you be blessed by the supreme love and truth of the cosmos.

Uncomfortable Monument: Art Fills Former Spy Station in Berlin

Berlin’s most famous spy station, a National Security Agency complex built on the rubble from World War II, is being filled with art for a weekend show that starts on Friday. The former NSA listening station, abandoned for years, has been transformed from a moldering junkyard to giant art show, and just in time to contribute to the debate on recent revelations about the US agency’s widespread spying around the world.

A day ahead of the opening, artist Dirk Krechting was sweating as he pulled a bucket full of water up four floors on a rope. He was putting the finishing touches on what he calls a simple and cliché statement about spying and warfare. The piece, a bathtub filled with bright red water and a small satellite dish perched above, literally looks like a bloodbath. It’s located directly in the middle of a gigantic radar ball that used to be part of the listening station.

“I tried to be aggressive and show the uselessness of this installation, the uselessness of spying,” said Krechting, 44, a Dutchman who splits his time between Amsterdam and Berlin.

Spying and the NSA scandal have become a major political issue during a German election year, and the art show addresses the revelations directly. With more than 70 artists involved, works include everything from video installations to robot-like sculptures made from material found at the derelict NSA site.

“I wanted the artists to enjoy the space and play with the history here,” said Jill Ariela, a freelance curator working with a group of the artists on the WestTurm Pavilion exhibition. “It can feel heavy in many ways because of the history but it’s really beautiful too. I want it to be a really light experience.”

Past and Present

The art show is part of a broader national heritage day on Sept. 8 with a theme “Beyond Good and Beautiful: Inconvenient Monuments.” In Berlin alone, more than 300 historic sites are open to the public for the event. But the NSA station at Teufelsberg, which translates to “Devil’s Mountain,” may be one of the most inconvenient monuments in the city.

Set on Berlin’s highest point, the “mountain” is a 115-meter (377-foot) mound of rubble collected from what remained of Berlin following World War II. At the very top is a collection of industrial-style buildings topped with five white radar balls that formed part of the NSA’s “Echelon” global espionage network, which was used to spy behind the iron curtain during the Cold War. It was in use from 1957 to 1991 and then abandoned.

For many years, it was a surreal landscape of broken glass, tangled wiring and smashed electronics — one of many abandoned spaces throughout the German capital. Just three or four years ago, it was still loosely guarded, with easy access through a gap in the fence. But more recently, two West German architects who own Teufelsberg with a firm called IGTB have been working with two tour operators to make it safer and more orderly, cutting down calls to police.

One of the tour operators, Niklas Mascher, said he hopes the art show this weekend will help showcase the site and highlight Teufelsberg’s broader importance. Specifically, he would like to see the site designated as a monument, especially considering the recent revelations on spying and the “soft totalitarianism” of the NSA.

“This year the topic is uncomfortable monuments,” said Mascher, “and ours is a perfect example.”

Teufelsberg will be open to the public all weekend, though guests must still be accompanied by a guide and sign a liability waiver. Sign-ups are accepted at the site from 10 a.m. through 10 p.m. The opening night performances for the WestTurm Pavilion show are on Friday at 7 p.m.

Coolant Leak on Space Station May Delay Return of Astronauts to Earth

location of coolant leak on ISS
Ammonia coolant has been seen leaking into space from the P6 truss on the Interantional Space Station. NASA is planning a spacewalk to investigate and repair the leak.

Right now, NASA is planning at least one EVA—extra-vehicular activity, or spacewalk—for an astronaut on the International Space Station to investigate and hopefully repair a coolant leak. NASA says the crew is not in danger, and the ISS is otherwise operating normally. Pete Harding at NASASpaceflight.com has a detailed article on this situation.

Basically, turning solar energy into power for the station generates heat, which must be removed. A cooling system is used that is essentially a series of ammonia-filled pipes; they run over the heated area, warming up the ammonia, which is then pumped away from the hot spot so it can radiate that heat away into space.

A small leak in one of the pipes has been known for years. It was so tiny it wasn’t a huge concern; a mission a few years back brought more ammonia to the station to refill the pipes. But on May 9, ground controllers noticed the leak had increased suddenly, and astronauts on board ISS saw flakes of frozen ammonia leaking out into space. Because of this, a spacewalk is being scheduled most likely for Saturday, May 11, to take a look and identify the culprit. A second, later EVA will probably then be needed to swap out the faulty part.

This situation is serious, but being handled. Everything on the ISS has redundant backups, so the pipe is being shut down and the backup unit getting prepped for use.

This does throw a monkey in the wrench of the schedule; Commander Hadfield, Tom Marshburn (a likely candidate for at least one of the spacewalks), and Roman Romanenko were already preparing for their return to Earth on Monday. That’s now on hold for a while, probably until the situation is under control. It’s not clear how long the delay will be, or what this will mean for the launch of the next crew of three astronauts to the station, due for late May.

Spaceflight enthusiasts are discussing this on the NASASpaceflightNow forum, and it’s fascinating to read. It’s clear NASA is taking this very seriously, as you’d expect, but it doesn’t sound like this is a life-or-death situation. Still, any time a contingency (extra) spacewalk is added in, there are inherent dangers. Hopefully the engineers on the ground and the astronauts on-board the ISS will take care of this quickly and efficiently.
