Missing Heather Elvis, 20 yrs old, 5′ 1″ tall and 118 lbs.

MYRTLE BEACH SC — The reward for information about Heather Elvis was increased Monday to $ 30,000, according to a posting on the Facebook page FindHeatherElvis. The reward had previously been $ 25,000, but in the posting Elvis’ father, Terry Elvis, said, “I have added more of my own funding to bring the reward up to $ 30.000.00, someone knows something, at some point soon I am may have to switch this from reward to Bounty for those who may be proven responsible, if you know something the time to step up is now. My family has suffered long enough and answers are needed.” Elvis was last seen about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 17. In a report filed late Dec. 19, a police officer on patrol saw the 20-year-old’s vehicle parked at Peachtree boat landing and called her father, who is the owner, to inquire why it was parked there. Her father said he last heard from Elvis about 10:43 p.m.  Dec. 17 when she sent him a text message. Elvis’ case has been featured on various national television shows and websites and hundreds of searchers have spent days scouring areas in the Myrtle Beach area for clues about the woman. The CUE Center for Missing Persons, based in Wilmington, N.C., organized the effort.

WHEN WILL IT ALL STOP? PENN LIVE CENTRAL PA….Private Investigator Bill Warner Notes Similarities Between Kortne Stouffer and 17 Other Missing Women, DA Dave Arnold Doubts Link, So Why Did His Detective Call Bill Warner and tell me that they had no victimology in the Kortne Stouffer case, just like in all the other unsolved cases?  A Florida investigator said he believes the disappearance of Kortne Stouffer and 17 other women who look like her could be the work of a serial killer. Bill Warner, a Sarasota, Fla., private investigator, said his goal is to prompt the FBI to look into whether a serial killer is at work. scan

VICTIMOLOGY: “It’s a profile I have developed. All these missing young women, they look just like sisters,” Bill Warner said. “They all disappeared under strange circumstances, outside their apartment or house, with no break-ins, no indication of confrontation in or out of the house. They just disappear,” he said, adding a lot of them disappeared after a night of drinking. Dave Arnold, Lebanon County district attorney, said the FBI’s violence crimes unit (VICAM) already looked at Stouffer’s disappearance, compared it with missing persons cases up and down the East Coast, and didn’t find links to other cases. “It’s an interesting read, an interesting theory he has. But there are no facts to support the theory at least at this point in time,” Arnold said of Bill Warner’s blog.

Feds: No sand castles on beach

(SAN FRANCISCO CHRONICLE) The federal government shutdown has washed away – at least for now – a long-standing sand castle contest that raises money for arts programs at public schools.

The contest was to take place Saturday at San Francisco’s Ocean Beach, with teams from 26 public elementary schools collaborating with adults from design-related firms to build fantastical structures of water and sand.

But the 30th annual contest was postponed “indefinitely” on Tuesday. The beach is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, which has furloughed most of its employees and revoked all event permits until there’s a resolution of the standoff in Washington, D.C., over funding for the 2013-14 federal budget.

Horned sea monster found on beach

Experts are baffled after the discovery of four-metre-long horned creature on a Spanish beach.

THE remains of a mysterious, bizarre “sea creature” found on a Spanish beach has left experts baffled.

The four-metre-long creature, with what appear to be horns, was found decomposing on Luis Siret Beach in Villaricos, Spain  leaving locals wondering if they had caught a glimpse of a mythical sea monster from the deep, Grind TV reports.

“A lady found one and we helped her retrieve the rest,” Maria Sanches of Civil Protection in Cuevas said. “We have no idea what it was. It really stank.”

Experts and residents are struggling to determine what the remains are, with guesses ranging from everything from a relative of the Loch Ness Monster, a dinosaur or sea monster, or an oarfish.

“It’s hard to know what we are dealing with,” PROMAR Sea Life Defence Program spokesman Paco Toledano told Ideal Ameria.

“It’s very decomposed and we cannot identify what it is.”

Mr Toledano said they have sent information about the remains to more other experts, in hopes that they can identify the animal.

It’s not the first mystery remains to lead to speculation of a sea monster. In May, stunned beachgoers on New Zealand’s Pukehina Beach stumbled over the carcass of a mysterious marine animal.

The latest mysterious find is part of a long history of discoveries of mysterious sea creatures. The bizarre, rotting corpses are often mistakenly identified as sea monsters or dinosaurs, or even just mysterious “blobsters”.

OTHER GROTESQUE DISCOVERIES

Deep sea divers captured images of the elusive Pyrostremma spinosum in open water off the coast of Tasmania this year. The incredible deep-sea glow worm dubbed ‘Unicorn of the Sea’ can grow up to 30 metres long.  Click here to see video of the Unicorn of the Sea

In 2003, the bizarre 12-metre, 13-tonne “Chilean blob” shocked the world when it washed ashore on Los Muermos beach, BBC News reports. Puzzled marine biologists speculated the blob could be a type of giant squid, but DNA tests on the blubbery mass eventually determined it was the remains of a sperm whale.

The Montauk Monster was an animal carcass thought to be a raccoon that washed ashore on a beach near the business district of Montauk, New York in July 2008. The identity of the creature has been the subject of controversy and speculation. It is not known what happened to the carcass.

A giant squid washed up onto the beach near Strachan on Tasmania’s west coast in July 2007. Giant squid grow up to 8 metres long.

In September 2009, a strange hairless creature found in a South American cave had people believeing aliens had landed. Dubbed the ‘Panama Creature’, ‘Panama Monster’ and even the ‘Panama ET’ the creature was discovered and killed by a group of teenagers in the town of Cerro Azul. In 1896, a 2-metre tall sea creature corpse washed ashore in St Augustine, Florida. Scientists eventually determined it was a new type of giant octopus.

Marine mammal expert Anton Van Heldon examined the latest ‘monster’ carcass in New Zealand and believes it is a killer whale, based on the fin structure. Killer whales, or orcas, are sometimes spotted in the Bay of Plenty.
