KAMPALA, Uganda (AP) — A Ugandan newspaper published a list Tuesday of what it called the country’s “200 top” gays, outing some Ugandans and raising fears of violence against those named just a day after the president enacted a severe anti-gay law.

Many on the list “are scared and they need help,” said Pepe Julian Onziema, a prominent Ugandan gay activist who was named in in the Red Pepper tabloid. “Some want to leave the country and they are asking to be helped.”

Meanwhile, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said Monday’s signing of the bill by President Yoweri Museveni marked “a tragic day for Uganda and for all who care about the cause of human rights.”

He warned that Washington could cut aid to the East African nation over the new law, which punishes gay sex with up to life in prison.

“We are beginning an internal review of our relationship with the government of Uganda to ensure that all dimensions of our engagement, including assistance programs, uphold our anti-discrimination policies and principles and reflect our values,” Kerry said in a statement.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon demanded the revision or repeal of the law, warning on Tuesday that it could fuel prejudice and harassment against gays.

The Red Pepper ran its list of names — and some pictures — in a front-page story under the headline “EXPOSED!”

News editor Ben Byarabaha said the paper published the full names of only the well-known activists and tried to use nicknames for those not publicly gay. A popular Ugandan hip-hop star and a Catholic priest are among those on the list.

Byarabaha offered no details on how the names were compiled.

Onziema, who has repeatedly warned that Uganda’s new law could spark violence against gays, said the tabloid had provided enough information to identify many people who had not come out publicly.

“Some of the employers have read the paper, and from the descriptions they can tell who these people are,” he said.

Few Ugandans identify themselves publicly as gay, and the tabloid’s actions recalled a similar list published in 2011 by a now-defunct tabloid that called for the execution of gays. A prominent Ugandan gay activist, David Kato, was killed after that list came out.

“The media witch hunt is back,” tweeted Jacqueline Kasha, a well-known Ugandan lesbian activist who is among those listed in the Red Pepper story.

Uganda’s new anti-gay law also creates the offenses of “conspiracy to commit homosexuality” and “aiding and abetting homosexuality,” both of which are punishable by seven years behind bars. Those convicted of “promoting homosexuality” face similar punishment.

In signing the bill, Museveni said the measure is needed because the West is promoting homosexuality in Africa, and he rejected international criticism of the law as interference in Uganda’s internal affairs.

Ugandan police spokesman Patrick Onyango said Tuesday that no gays have been arrested since Museveni signed the bill but that at least two had been taken into custody since lawmakers passed the measure in December.

Onziema said that he had counted up to six arrests and that more than a dozen gay Ugandans had fled the country since December.

Homosexuality has long been criminalized in Uganda under a colonial-era law that outlawed sex acts “against the order of nature.”

Some Ugandan lawyers and activists have said they will challenge the new law as unconstitutional and impossible to implement.

The Ugandan law came just over a month after Nigeria passed a similar measure.

The media and our government has been turning a blind eye to the plight of our children.

During my divorce I was threatened with losing custody if I didn’t agree to 50/50 custody so he could pay less child support.  

I agreed for I feared my husband would hurt me after he exposed me and my unborn child to AIDS without my knowledge through sexual activities

He was a wealthy man and didn’t want to let go of control and began a campaign of psychological abuse using my child as a pawn

My 11 year old son reported that his father’s gay lover was massaging him in bed with his underwear on, and that he no longer wanted to visit his father’s house while this man was there as he gave him the creeps and hated him.

I tried to speak to father, but he said he wanted his son to get used to another man touching him, that it was natural.

My attorney brought this to judge’s attention and was immediately shutdown. Judge wrote an order stating I was a liar and she  didn’t believe anything, and she wouldn’t let me or my son testify anymore even though he was 11-years-old.

My son who was a big boy started to have physical fights with his father on his days of visitation as he didn’t want to be around his boyfriend

I was called into court on two hours notice while my attorney was out of town, locked in the judges chambers, accused of being crazy. My ex and his three lawyers testified against me, and the judge wouldn’t allow me one one word in my defence.

At that point out of sheer desperation and in fear for the damage to my son as his father threatened that if he ever spoke about the massages again, his mother would go to jail and he would be put in foster care I offered to give his father custody as that was the only way I could think of protecting him from his father putting him in foster care or worse.

In the end I wasn’t found crazy, but was accused of Parent Alienation, even though the man my son was complaining about wasn’t his father, but his gay lover.

The judge told me he was a dictator and didn’t have to follow any of the laws of the USA and that my son needed to get used to a homosexual lifestyle, and he then ordered no contact between me and my son.

My son begged me to help him, so we ran away. Bounty hunters were hired; private investigators followed my entire family; all our phones were tapped; my families bank accounts were frozen, and my parents mail was censored through the police before they could receive it.

Finally in Feb 11, 2002 I was placed on FBI 10 most wanted list with Osama bin Laden.

I returned myself and my son after judge was removed from my case for bias, but it was too late, as one judge tried to protect the actions of the other judges.

I admitted to running away with my child “interference with child custody” and was told I could use a defense of necessity.

When it came time for my criminal trial the judge asked jurors back in 2006 if anyone didn’t believe in gay marriage, those who didn’t were immediately dismissed from my case. Only five women were picked, none of them having children and one man with one child.

The judge never allowed me my defence of necessity as to why I was scared for the life of my child and my life, so without hearing that important evidence or course they had to find me guilty. Again the judge was promoting a homosexual agenda, stating I had no right in deciding how my child should be raised and it was normal for fathers to touch their children sexually.

One of the jurors ended up being the best friend of the gay lover that touched my child, and the judge kept this information hidden from us. I was found guilty and given a 30 month prison sentence.

After everyone left the courtroom the judge told my lawyer and the prosecutor to make a “special deal” with me so that I would give up my appeal. Only after much convincing from my family did I give up my right to appeal. As the judge had legally erred 39 times  went to jail for six months, spent four years on house arrest and was denied no contact with my son who kept asking for me.

My case is not unusual as of this writing 2.2 million moms have been ordered no contact with their children. Many of these moms came from middle to upper income, were well educated, stay at home moms and had controlling wealthy husbands who were in charge of the finances. 

My son testified against me after his father actually put him into foster care in order to make sure my son would be scared to death to tell the truth. Nancy Grace did a small section on this trial, wondering why I was put on trial.

 I am a libertarian and if you worry about Obama not following the law, surely this can’t be a surprise by now. Little by little our government has been trying it’s best to take control over our children. If you think losing your doctor or healthcare is bad, imagine losing your child. This is it folks our government is already starting the practices of Nazi Germany and no one wants to see it.

 As my daughter who is a lawyer stated to me, why does Obama care about the children of immigrants and allow them to break the law, but a USA mother who tries to protect her own child no one is willing to ignore the law. Quite the contrary, how dare she buck the government and save her child, what right does she have. 

Enclosed is a small TV interview, and my website www.protectingmychild.org. As a Jew I ask you not to ignore this story. How many more children must be devastated, harmed, sexually abused and killed before one person in the media is willing to do an investigative report?

I think our government has reached it’s tipping point.

Gays in Russia are not prosecuted and, thus, there are no grounds grant them asylum in the Netherlands, the Dutch foreign minister said in an attempt to clarify a previous statement perceived as an offer of asylum to Russian homosexuals.

Foreign Minister Frans Timmermans said his previous statement was misinterpreted.

Earlier this week, Timmermans sent a letter to his country’s parliament, in which he was reported as stating that Russia’s law banning homosexual “propaganda” that could be viewed by minors was a violation of human rights and that individuals facing persecution under that law should be considered as asylum cases in the Netherlands.

However, on Sunday he disavowed the statement.

“First of all, I’ve never said this,” Timmermans told RIA Novosti in an interview. “I answered… parliamentary questions in the written form. And in my answer I said in general terms, it didn’t pertain to Russia specifically, that if homosexuals are prosecuted, they are in a position to ask for asylum in the Netherlands,” he explained. 

Foreign Minister Timmermans pointed out that as of today, LGBT activists in Russia “are not being prosecuted”. He then added that his written briefing to the parliament “was a generic answer to a generic question”.

Timmermans thanked the media for what he said was “an opportunity to clarify” the situation, once again stressing that his statement was not “directed at Russia”.

The so-called anti-gay propaganda law was enacted on June 30, when it was signed by President Vladimir Putin. It’s an amendment to the law “On protecting children from information harmful to their health and development”. The legislation caused outrage in Russia and abroad with protesters claiming that the law is a crackdown and discrimination against LBGT activists. Supporters insisted the law was not about punishing people for being homosexual, but rather to keep minors from being influenced by non-traditional sexual relationship propaganda.

Chris Rodda: Congress Members Want Military Gays to be Free to Mock Christians

An amendment to the FY14 National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA), if it remains in the bill and is signed into law, would give gays serving in the military permission to openly mock and denigrate Christians.

The amendment, introduced by Rep. John Fleming (R-LA) has already passed in the House, but has also already been objected to by the Obama administration. A similar amendment, introduced by Sen. Mike Lee (R-UT) has passed the Senate Armed Services Committee.

What Rep. Fleming’s amendment would do is alter the language of the “religious freedom” amendment that made it into last year’s NDAA, raising the bar on just how much our gay men and women in uniform can mock and denigrate their Christian fellow service members.

If passed, these new rules will be a huge victory for gays in the military. No longer will they have to be respectful of those whose religious beliefs tell them that homosexuality is a sin. They will be free to openly mock the Bible and Christians and push the gay agenda on everybody — and their commanders won’t be able to do a damn thing to stop them.

This is how the proposed changes will alter section 533 of last year’s NDAA (new language bolded and in brackets):

(a) PROTECTION OF RIGHTS OF CONSCIENCE.–

(1) ACCOMMODATION.–[Except in cases of military necessity,] the Armed Forces shall accommodate the beliefs, [actions, and speech] of a member of the armed forces reflecting the conscience, moral principles, or religious beliefs of the member and, in so far as practicable, may not use such beliefs, [actions, and speech] as the basis of any adverse personnel action, discrimination, or denial of promotion, schooling, training, or assignment.

(2) DISCIPLINARY OR ADMINISTRATIVE ACTION.–Nothing in paragraph (1) precludes disciplinary or administrative action for conduct that is proscribed by chapter 47 of title 10, United States Code (the Uniform Code of Military Justice), including actions and speech that threaten [actually harm] good order and discipline.

No longer will name-calling and harassment be prohibited if these “sticks and stones” merely pose a threat to good order and discipline; they will have to result in actual harm to good order and discipline. In other words, a commander will no longer be able to head off a potential breach of good order and discipline in their unit by stopping a gay service member from calling a Christian a “Bible thumper” or “Jesus freak” — they will have to wait until such name-calling escalates to a point where the persecution of the Christians in their unit becomes so great that the unit cannot function efficiently.

And Fleming’s amendment doesn’t stop at mere words. The anti-Christian actions of gays in the military will also be protected! Gays will be free to push their gay agenda on everybody in any manner that doesn’t rise to the level of violating Chapter 47 of the UCMJ! Pro-gay chaplains will even be able to stop heterosexual Christian wedding ceremonies from taking place in military chapels!

Yeah, right. Now go back and read this post reversing Christians and gays because that, of course, is what Rep. Fleming’s amendment will do. This amendment, under the guise of “religious liberty,” is really all about undermining and even reversing the repeal of “Don’t ask, don’t tell,” and everybody knows it.
