Stack testing is a procedure in examining the levels and kinds of gas emissions produced by a facility or a vehicle. This process is also referred to in many names such as emission test, source sampling test, compliance test or performance test. This was developed as a result of the increasing concern with regards to air quality.
The ultimate goal for this process is to monitor pollutants in the air through environmental sampling, hereby, presenting a chance of raising and maintaining the level of air quality in the area. It is because certain levels of these elements can bring great harm to the environment. More so, they come with threats to human safety as well as to that of other living creatures.
Currently, these have been mandated by ordinances and laws because of records pertaining to the negative effects on the health of human beings in general. There are certain illnesses that are associated with the constant exposure to pollutants in the air. Some of these health problems are related to disruptions in the respiratory and circulatory body systems.
Periodic industrial hygiene monitoring is conducted in facilities such as manufacturing and power plants. The emphasis of this method is to protect workers in these areas against the effects of chemicals in the air. This is also to preserve the acceptable degree of these chemical substances that is present in the workplace.
This testing is done by examining air samples and the accompanying components from a specific office or facility. With this, degrees of physical and environmental risk are made known. It can also determine the toxins that employees are frequently exposed to. More importantly, these substances in the air should conform to the standards of air quality. If this is not achieved, then, necessary actions will be taken.
Like humans, animals also experience complications associated with air pollution. Several observations have been conducted that toxins in the air can lead to reproductive and birth defects. There is also a link between the mortality of animals and their exposure of harmful chemicals present in the air.
In addition, there are also certain conditions in the environment that can be attributed to air pollution. One of which is the widely-known acid rain that contains harmful levels of nitric and sulfuric acid. Moreover, ozone depletion, crop and forest damage as well as global climate change, but some of the few cir***stances that are currently happening can be due to the worsening conditions of the environment.
There are little things that each person can do to help raise the level of air quality. One example is to lessen the use of automobiles during short trips and ride a bicycle instead. One can also contribute by choosing cars that are friendlier to the environment. Regular stack testing is a must, too.
