Is The Ice Cream Diet Another Passing Fad?

The Ice Cream Diet certainly has managed to stir up a lot of talk, lately. Prevention magazine did an article about it, and the Ice Cream Diet\’s creator flatly states that it\’s possible to lose weight, get healthier, and eat ice cream every day. So maybe you want to know if this is fact or fiction, hype or the real deal – keep reading.

The Ice Cream Diet, like many others, will talk about why you need to develop the habit of good and regular exercise to accompany the diet and help you lose weight. Also, just in case… the Ice Cream Diet doesn\’t mean you eat all the ice cream you want, and then something extraordinary happens and the weight starts disappearing. By the way, if you read a diet book, and it says there\’s no real need to engage in regular exercising, we heartily suggest you just put it down and forget about it. The Ice Cream Diet in a nutshell – exercise five times per week each of about half an hour; healthy eating that is low calorie, and eating a small portion of ice cream each day as a reward. If you follow these recommendations, you should be able to lose weight, even while eating ice cream.

They take advantage of human nature and psychology in this diet. When you restrict yourself from something in particular, there\’s an unusual feeling of wanting it even moreso than before. It\’s natural for anyone to feel deprived of good foods when they diet, and it happens in most people. People usually put weight back on after dieting because they want those foods they were deprived of during the diet. This diet is actually clever because it addresses a very common problem experienced by all dieters, perhaps. This way we are not depriving ourselves and are less inclined to abandon the diet and binge.

We do have to admit that the \”Ice Cream Diet\” certainly can make people think all kinds of things. While you can eat a little bit of ice cream during the day, you\’ll still be taking in a low amount of calories. It\’s possible people will see the title and incorrectly think they can lose weight while stuffing themselves full of ice cream.

Even worse, people who only hear about it and don\’t actually study the diet may conclude that ice cream isn\’t fattening. If you have an interest in it, then you should read more or get the book, etc. Like most diets, the Ice Cream Diet advocates that you restrict your calories and get regular exercise.

Overall, the Ice Cream Diet can help you to lose weight if you follow its recommendations. If you eat more ice cream than the diet suggests, however, you will probably gain weight! The reward system designed into the Ice Cream Diet can be highly effective for those who like the idea of having the little treat/reward every day.
