CONEY ISLAND — Eater NY heads to Totonno’s pizzeria in Coney Island, which was shuttered for five months following Hurricane Sandy. The good news? They have been busy ever since reopening: “Memorial Day weekend was packed.” [Eater NY]

ALL OVER THE PLACE — Tickets for “most shows” in food TV nerdling Alton Brown’s traveling rodeo, Alton Brown Live, are on sale now. [Alton Brown Live, Twitter]

NEW JERSEYAndrew Zimmern and the Bizarre Foods crew filmed at Thirty Acres in Jersey City. Zimmern tells the Star Ledger, “I think it’s interesting to see a chef who’s introducing Jerseyites to a taste of their state that they didn’t otherwise think of…I have these visual images, I think of him always reaching behind him into this giant bevy of New Jersey ingredients: local fish, local farms, supporting local, local, local.” [Star-Ledger]

DALLAS — Dallas chef Najat Kaanache claims she coined the word “cronut,” if not Dominique Ansel’s now-famous croissant/doughnut hybrid. Commenters on D Mag say the Kaanache cronut was some sort of crawfish/croquette mix; in any case Ansel has the trademark. [D Mag]
