Okay, that does it. I haven’t yet “succumbed” to a “smart phone”; although I realize having the internet and communications tech in one’s pocket is quite alluring, I’m still just using a voice/text clamshell, with a crapola camera and old-fashioned number pad. I hate the phone, but hey, it does the job.

I was just considering over the last few months springing for a handy-dandy pocket-net device like the kids all have, even my brother is rude enough to sit and browse the internet during family gatherings (which happen only 1-2 times per year). I find it quite sad that people can’t simply sit and talk without resorting to their ‘iphones’.

Just yesterday I was looking at smartphones for sale; several hundred dollars!!! To be “hooked in” to the NSA?

Um, no. I’ll stick with my crap-shell disposable phone and my home PC. Camera taped over.

Reminds me of my Mom, who turns 75 on Thursday – she still as landline phones in her home, although my bro got her an iphone a couple/few years ago (which I’m glad of, because she needs to have a cellular). But, the dinosaur variety work for voice, and too difficult to “text” (which eliminates doing so while driving), and is perfectly adequate for keeping in touch with my family and friends.

Yikes. This society makes me shudder.

But, then again, it may all just be sensationalist divisive-rumormongering. It’s awful to not be able to trust ANYONE or ANYTHING having to do with media or government.

Blah
