Canada Beats Sweden For Men"s Hockey Gold Medal

Canada defeated Sweden, 3-0 on Sunday, to win the men’s ice hockey gold medal at the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. The Canadians proved to be too much for Sweden, as goals by Jonathan Toews, Sidney Crosby and Chris Kunitz gave Canada the shutout win, and second-straight Olympic men’s hockey gold medal. Sweden finished in second place for the silver medal, while Finland took home the bronze after shutting out the United States, 5-0, on Saturday.

Sweden warns against US aid to Syria militants

Press TV
June 14, 2013

Swedish Foreign Minister Carl Bildt has warned against the humanitarian ramifications of the US decision to provide new weapons to militants in Syria, saying the scenario will spark an “arms race” in the Arab country.

“I don’t think the way forward is to get an arms race going in Syria. There’s a risk that that would undermine the conditions for a political process,” Bildt said in a Friday TV interview.

The New York Times reported on June 13 that US President Barack Obama has decided to begin supplying the militants in Syria with small arms and ammunition. The assistance, coordinated by the CIA spy agency, could include antitank weapons, the paper said.

Bildt expressed concern that the US scenario to arm the militants in Syria would prompt Russia to boost its military support for the Syrian government.

“There’s no doubt that that would be very serious and [may] have even more serious humanitarian consequences,” the Swedish foreign minister added.

On Friday, top commander of foreign-backed militants in Syria, Brigadier General Salim Idris, welcomed the US decision, expressing hope that it “will be implemented on the ground as soon as possible.”

The turmoil in Syria erupted in March 2011, and many people, including large numbers of Syrian soldiers and security personnel, have been killed so far.

In May, Syrian President Bashar al-Assad said militants from 29 different countries were fighting against the government in different parts of the country.

UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Navi Pillay said on June 13 that at least 93,000 people have been killed since the outbreak of the foreign-sponsored militancy against the Syrian government.

Sweden Housing Crash Coming Up; Average Swede to Repay Mortgage in 140 Years; Swedish Central Bank Ponders New Rules

Average Swede to Repay Mortgage in 140 Years

Swedish repay their mortgages so slowly that it will take 140 years on average, according to the IMF.

The International Monetary Fund lamented Friday that Swedish households pay their mortgages so slowly that they are planning to do an average of 140 years.

“Financial stability is [...] reinforced by a steady reduction in repayment schedules – that exceed an average of 140 years,” the IMF said in a statement after a mission in Sweden.

This statistic was revealed in March by a government agency, the inspection of the financial sector. It covers loans considered relatively safe, those where the real estate buyer had an initial contribution equal to or greater than 25% of the value of the property and pay the higher monthly interest alone.

According to the Washington-based institution, the Swedish real estate market is a major risk to the economy, along with the eurozone crisis.

“With household debt rising beyond 1.7 times disposable income, a sudden and significant drop in property prices could have an effect on consumption and banks, raising unemployment and further reduce the inflation, and increased the number of non-performing loans and financing costs for banks, “said the IMF.

Why bother paying anything at all? Yet think of the consequences of underwater mortgages on the banking system when an estate does not have enough money to repay loans. A housing bust will have enormous consequences in such a setup.

Swedish Central Bank Ponders New Rules

Sweden is in the midst of a property bubble and a debt bubble, so much so that the risk mentioned above was noticed by the Swedish central bank.

And central banks are always at the tail end of noticing risks of the policies they sponsor.

Please consider Swedes’ high debts spark housing bubble fears.

Martin Andersson, the head of Sweden’s Financial Supervisory Authority (Finansinspektionen), expressed his concern about Swedes’ mounting debts. “Swedish households today are among the most indebted in Europe and we cannot have household lending that spirals out of control,” Andersson said.

One tool already in place to dampen the growth of Swedish household debt is a mortgage lending ceiling introduced in 2010 which caps the amount home buyers can borrow at 85 percent of the value of the property.

Riksbank head Stefan Ingves has also suggested new rules that would require Swedes to pay down the principal on their mortgages, although Andersson refused to say whether his agency would consider such a rule.

Last year, Swedes’ household debt hit a record 173 percent of disposable income, well above the 135 percent level during the height of Sweden’s banking crisis in the early 1990s.

Sweden Housing Crash Coming Up

By the time central banks notice bubbles and begin to discuss ways to alleviate them, it is far, far too late to do anything about them. A housing crash with huge consequences is 100% certain.

The longer it takes before the crash begins, the worse the crash.

Sweden Riots Islamism Sends Stockholm Up in Flames

Over the past week, Muslim immigrants have been on the rampage, destroying Swedish businesses, burning vehicles, attacking policemen, and waging a war against Western civilization. This is the breaking point for Sweden, and if the country is to succeed in preserving its liberties, then it must have a complete overhaul of its immigration policies, which have permitted millions of Muslim immigrants into the country — immigrants who have no interest whatsoever in assimilating into Swedish culture.

Rioting began on the May 19 when a Muslim man was gunned down by policeman in Stockholm after he brandished a machete and attempted to kill them. Muslims claimed that this was police brutality, and took the streets to protest. This has resulted in more than 300 cars being burnt by Islamist thugs, and damages are likely to cost billions of dollars. The irony of the situation is that no police brutality occurred whatsoever, for the police had every right to gun down the madman who was attempting to kill them. Nevertheless the fanaticism that has come about due to the killing has reinvigorated those who are fundamentally opposed to mass immigration from Muslim nations. It is well known that Sweden has been a safe haven for those who wish to seek asylum, or simply live off of hard-working people, due to its welfare state that has been taken advantage by those who are lazy and refuse to work. The fact of the matter is that regardless of what occurs, the welfare state will not be abolished, nor should it be, for it has become evident that the welfare system implemented by the Nordic countries has been a tremendous success. The problem is that many of the immigrants, including most of the Muslims, have no interest contributing to society, for they wish to retreat into their slums, live off the state, and attack policeman, ambulances, and anyone else who is not Muslim.

The line must be drawn, and it is becoming clear that only the Swedish Democrats are willing to stand up for Swedish values in a non-fascist way. Their leader, and member of Parliament, Jimmie Akesson, has made it clear that his nation has an “extreme immigration problem.” The only way this will be fixed is by dramatically decreasing the number of immigrants coming in from Muslim nations, and putting an end to the absurd multicultural program being pushed through by the political elite in both Sweden, and the European Union.
