US Soldier Watches Helplessly as His Pregnant Wife is Stabbed During Home Invasion that Interrupted Their Video Chat

A soldier deployed overseas was video chatting with his pregnant wife, who was one week from her due date, when something unforeseen occurred. No, it was her water breaking or labor pains. Instead, his pregnant wife literally labored for her life and the life of her unborn child after a burglar started stabbing her in real time.

KFOX14 reported that Corey Moss, a 19-year-old Fort Bliss soldier, went to the Pooles’ residence to talk to Rachel Poole about money he owed her husband, who is stationed in southwest Asia. However, after realizing that she wasn’t home, he didn’t simply leave. Instead, he broke into the house and waited for her.

Upon returning home, unaware that an intruder was lying in wait, Rachel began video chatting with her husband Justin.

That’s when the knife-wielding Moss lunged from behind and stabbed her multiple times in her body and face.

All the while, the horrified husband, who was thousands of miles away, was helplessly listening to the brutal assault.

According to the affidavit, Rachel immediately recognized Moss and cleverly yelled his name several times during the attack so that her husband could identify him.

It worked.

Following the attack, Moss fled to Fort Bliss military base. He was unaware that Justin Poole had called in advance and alerted them to the crime. Additionally, Rachel called the local police and gave them his name.

As a result, he was detained by the military police. The knife was also recovered.

EL Paso Police said that he admitted to the offense and was charged with criminal attempted capital murder. I’m no lawyer, but I think he should’ve been charged with two counts of attempted capital murder.

Fortunately, in spite of Rachel needing surgery for her wounds and fractures, the unborn baby girl, who the couple plans to name Isabella, is in good condition.

On his Facebook page, Justin vented, “I promised to give my life for this freedom not the other way around. I failed her but never again.”

Let’s hope the justice system doesn’t “fail” this family and this perp receives what he deserves.

Google"s Lawyer During Live Chat: "We"re Not In Cahoots With The NSA"

This live chat thing is catching on.

Two days after Edward Snowden, the source of recently leaked top secret National Security Agency documents, answered questions in an open-to-the-public live chat on The Guardian’s website, Google’s chief legal officer, David Drummond, participated in a similar forum.

Drummond, who also holds the title of senior vice president of corporate development at Google, answered questions from Guardian readers for almost an hour on Wednesday. In his answers (Google was picking the questions), Drummond emphasized that Google is not allowing the government “direct access” to its servers and laid out ways that Google is now calling for greater transparency from the government.

“I’m not sure I can say this more clearly: we’re not in cahoots with the NSA and there’s is no government program that Google participates in that allows the kind of access that the media originally reported,” Drummond wrote, in response to the first question. “Note that I say ‘originally’ because you’ll see that many of those original sources corrected their articles after it became clear that the PRISM slides were not accurate. Now, what does happen is that we get specific requests from the government for user data. We review each of those requests and push back when the request is overly broad or doesn’t follow the correct process. There is no free-for-all, no direct access, no indirect access, no back door, no drop box.”

Asked point blank if Google “is lying to us,” Drummond replied that, “We’re not in the business of lying and we’re absolutely telling the truth about all of this.”

“Our business depends on the trust of our users,” Drummond continued. “And I’m an executive officer of a large publicly traded company, so lying to the public wouldn’t be the greatest career move.”

Use This Advice When You Are Going To College

College can be scary, but ends up being a blast. This article will teach you how to survive college and even have fun in the process. Use this advice and that of loved ones carefully. These decisions can affect your future.

Participating in clubs and other activities may be beneficial. This will look good on your resume, and employers like to see a candidate with a variety of interests. Try not to do more than you can handle while maintaining your grades.

Sleep is a crucial element when attending any college or university. College students who burn the candle at both ends often end up needing to repeat courses. Therefore, make sure you plan wisely and get enough rest.

Green methods of transportation are king on campus. Think about it before you take your car with you. Parking can be very challenging, and cars are very expensive. You might have to focus a lot of energy on maintaining the car. You may find it makes more sense to carpool, bike to school or take a bus.

Your classes aren\’t the be-all and end-all of college. Being proactive on campus can help to expand your horizons and interests. For instance, you could join some clubs or volunteer for a cause. College campuses always have something going on. To encourage this form of experimentation, set a goal of trying at least one new activity every week.

Refrain from employing yourself during your first semester. Use this first semester to determine the best schedule for you and the amount of time you\’ll need to study. You could also consider a job working no more than 20 hours per week.

If you have children, living on campus may be an afterthought. This is not really true. There are some campuses that offer family housing. Institutions of higher education are beginning to accept the fact that college students are not just people who have just graduated from high school. Family housing may be available but it often books up quickly.

Do not submit the first paper that you have written. Edit it over and over again. Rather than just proofreading your paper, write out another draft. Then, proofread this draft and make any needed changes. By doing this, you can be more confident that your paper contains all the important components and is written well.

Make as many friends as you can in your classes. It\’s hard to talk to people you don\’t know, but the benefits are worth trying. Give them your number as this can expand your contacts and especially helpful if you miss a class. In addition, you can form a study group with these people so that you all can properly prepare for the exams.

If you need employment as a student, talk to your college career office. They can help you get a job both during your college career and after graduation. Often, they work in conjunction with the surrounding community and are the first to know about available job openings.

Don\’t accept fate if struggling with a college course; instead, take action! Get yourself some assistance. College campuses have a lot of tutors, some of whom are free, so be sure you are exercising all your options in trying to pass hard classes.

Eat on campus to keep costs down. Constantly eating out and munching on fast food is a great way to deplete your bank account, not to mention it isn\’t very healthy. Even though the food won\’t be delicious, look into student meal plans. Avoid spending money on fast food and invest in fresh fruit and nutritious snacks instead.

Prior to the day that classes begin, become familiar with your schedule as well as the location of your classes. Time yourself to get a feel for how quickly you\’ll have to walk to get from class to class. Include other resources, like student aid and the cafeteria, on your map for ease of use.

One thing you must bring to school, that is often overlooked, is plenty of toiletries. Needless to say, you don\’t want to run out of these at any time. You can also save money by purchasing these items in bulk or economy packages.

After learning more on people who go back to school, are you more at ease? You aren\’t alone. Lots of older people have decided that they need to return to school. There\’s no reason to fear it. When you take college seriously, you will be successful.
