Libya Parliament Moves to 5-Star Hotel After Attack

(Newser) – After a deadly attack last night, Libya’s parliament has relocated and will meet in a five-star Tripoli hotel. Tensions in the country have been high, with rival militias backing Prime Minister Ali Zidan and the Islamist factions in parliament that oppose him. Dozens of protesters stormed parliament yesterday, shooting guns, throwing bottles, and setting things on fire, the AP reports. A guard was killed, two lawmakers were shot, three were beaten up, and one was wounded by broken glass.

Parliament’s term ended on Feb. 7, but lawmakers voted to extend it and hold new elections in the spring, leading hundreds of protesters to demonstrate each day and demand parliament be disbanded immediately. No date for the new elections has been set, CNN reports. Yesterday’s attack was preceded by an attack on an anti-parliament sit-in; unidentified assailants set fire to a tent and then kidnapped two of the protesters. Some lawmakers think yesterday’s attack was a reaction to that incident.

South Africa Hotel Offers Fake Slum Experience

(Newser) – Well, this is … interesting: You can now pay half the average South African’s monthly salary—or $ 82 a night—to stay in a slum. Not a real one, as some one billion people worldwide do; instead, Gizmodo reports, South Africa’s Emoya Luxury Hotel and Spa is offering the experience of “a Shanty within the safe environment of a private game reserve.” The fake slum, near Bloemfontein, is offered as tours of actual slums gain popularity.

And though it’s got realistic touches like a “‘long-drop’ outside toilet” and facilities for building your own fire, it’s also “the only Shanty Town in the world equipped with under-floor heating and wireless internet access!,” Emoya’s site notes, adding that the place is “ideal for team building, braais (barbecues), fancy theme parties, and an experience of a lifetime.” Four people can stay in one of the available corrugated-iron shacks, and there’s room for 52 people total, This Is Africa reports, wondering if the offering is “the most tasteless and offensive tourism idea ever.”

Bunker Palace Hotel

Hello ATS

Im here today to share something

It may be not interest you, but after all, it doesnt matter…

ITs about my life,my lonely life, i a life devoid of light.

What can i say?

I grew up alone, in an orphanage, terrorized about my crippling loneliness, watching a doomed future.
do you see what i mean?
The feeling you get when you know something is about to happen, something you cannot escape.

I knew from the start.

Growing in an orphanage is kinda strange, most kids hate each others, its beyond bullying.

When i left the orphanage,i found myself in the open, nothing to keep my freedom away, finaly,LIFE.

Life, and all the things that come with it, but i was ready to face it, ready to fight ,ready to live, but i was scared too, and lonelier than before.

I managed to get a job,and managed to study at the same time, but i grew being even more alone.

I tried to be nice with people, tried to get friends around me,tried to look interesting.
I failed, and by failing, i mean, miserably failing,in the most pathetic ways.

I hated the sky and heavens.

So, i decided to work, work as much as possible, to get rich, to buy things, stuff,to make people like me, you know, like, buying friends.

It worked, they robbed me, i was dumb, i was hurt, my ego was shattered into pieces, my already microscopic pride was dead, by my own stupidity.

Then the unexpected happened.

I met her, she was like a billion of stars, she talked to me, managed to tame my pain, made me smile and feel like a real human being.

She loved me, and i loved her.

And she died.

She died, and the world around, became a terrible prison, i became my own prison.
I kept all her things, her scarf, and her long black coat, her pictures.

Now, today, i still can smell her delicate perfume,i remember her voice, her soft skin, and powerful smile, her long hair.

Still, today,i cant push myself to meet anyone, i cant, maybe because i dont want to, its my stupidity, i joined her in her grave, somehow.

Today, i still keep working,i still live, i still breath, i still wake up every morning with my coffee and cigs,i still go to work.

And every night, i turn off my mind, trying to kill the pain, nones want to be near me, i wish one day someone tell me its ok to stop hurting, i wish someone one turn me off for good, like you turn off a machine.

never had the courage to kill myself, maybe because i have hope, or maybe because im just scared.

today, while im writting those words, hoping the pain to stop, hoping ill see her again one day, if the after life exist.

Today i just want to bury myself into tons of concrete and stop thinking.

Trump Outlines Plans for Luxury Hotel in Washington Landmark

Real estate mogul Donald Trump vowed on Tuesday to turn a towering Washington landmark into one of the world’s top luxury hotels, part of a rejuvenation of the U.S. capital’s downtown.

The entrepreneur and TV personality said “cost is no object” when it came to restoring the 1890s-era Old Post Office Building on Pennsylvania Avenue midway between the White House and the Capitol.

“As far as the building itself, it will be magnificent at the highest level,” Trump told a news conference on his plans for the hotel, flanked by three of his children and District of Columbia officials.

After the $ 200 million project is completed, the hotel will have about 270 guestrooms, averaging more than 600 square feet, the largest in the District of Columbia. Each will have a crystal chandelier.

The Old Post Office Building was built to house the U.S. Post Office Department and the Washington City Post Office. At 307 feet, it is one of the tallest structures in Washington and offers superb views.

Various federal agencies had shared the building since 1934. The General Service Administration, the government’s property arm, has considered it “underused” for years, according to GSA statements.

The GSA selected Trump Hotel Collection to turn the site into a luxury hotel in February 2012. The Trump organization is financing the project.

The property will be known as Trump International Hotel, The Old Post Office Building. Construction is scheduled to begin in spring 2014, and the hotel plans to open in 2016.

Trump’s plans come as Washington is enjoying an economic upturn, with about 1,000 people a month moving into the District of Columbia, reversing decades of decline.

A few blocks from the new hotel is CityCenter, a 2.5 million-square-foot mixed use development and one of the biggest downtown projects in the United States.
