How Vaccine Fears Fueled The Resurgence Of Preventable Diseases

For most of us, measles and whooping cough are diseases of the past. You get a few shots as a kid and then hardly think about them again.

But that’s not the case in all parts of the world — not even parts of the U.S.

As an interactive map from the Council on Foreign Relations illustrates, several diseases that are easily prevented with vaccines have made a comeback in the past few years. Their resurgence coincides with changes in perceptions about vaccine safety.

Since 2008 folks at the think tank CFR have been plotting all the cases of measles, mumps, rubella, polio and whooping cough around the world. Each circle on the map represents a local outbreak of a particular disease, while the size of the circle indicates the number of people infected in the outbreak.

As you flip through the various maps over the years, two trends clearly emerge: Measles has surged back in Europe, while whooping cough is has become a problem here in the U.S.

Childhood immunization rates plummeted in parts of Europe and the U.K. after a 1998 study falsely claimed that the vaccine for measles, mumps and rubella was linked to autism.

That study has since been found to be fraudulent. But fears about vaccine safety have stuck around in Europe and here in the U.S.

Viruses and bacteria have taken full advantage of the immunization gaps.

In 2011, France reported a massive measles outbreak with nearly 15,000 cases. Only the Democratic Republic of Congo, India, Indonesia, Nigeria and Somalia suffered larger measles outbreaks that year.

In 2012, the U.K. reported more than 2,000 measles cases, the largest number since 1994.

Here in the U.S., the prevalence of whooping cough shot up in 2012 to nearly 50,000 cases. Last year cases declined to about 24,000 — which is still more than tenfold the number reported back in the early ’80s when the bacteria infected less than 2,000 people.

So what about countries in Africa? Why are there so many big, colorful circles dotting the continent? For many parents there, the problem is getting access to vaccines, not fears of it.

Did a quick search and I found a few threads on this subject… but they were all a few years old…

After decades of passionate debate, parents probably missed the repeated admissions by drug companies and governments alike that vaccines do in fact cause autism. For concerned parents seeking the truth, it’s worth remembering that the exact same people who own the world’s drug companies also own America’s news outlets. Finding propaganda-free information has been difficult, until now.

www.whydontyoutrythis.com…

We’ve all heard the rumours… well in the past few months courts from several different countries have confirmed it… it is a fact that vaccines can cause horrible debilitating effects

In fact… In the past thirty years ( according to this article) Children and the parents of have been awarded millions of dollars in damages from lawsuits because these vaccines have caused so much harm… up to and including brain damage… :O

Dr. Wakefield himself reiterates the final conclusion of the courts in various countries, but censored by the world’s media outlets saying:

“Now this question has been answered not by me, but by the courts, by the vaccine courts in Italy and in the United States of America where it appears that many children over the last thirty years have been awarded millions of dollars for the fact that they have been brain-damaged by MMR vaccine and other vaccines and that brain damage has led to autism. That is a fact

Now everyone knows… OR at least anyone who bothers to read this article… Vaccines cause more harm then good…

Don’t get them… ITs just too much of a risk…

Big Pharma is not your friend.. They don’t test their products as much as they should, and they throw them out there fully knowing they cause harm because the money they will make from the product FAR out weighs the lawsuits.

And I was astonished by this and I said to Dr Elizabeth Miller of the Health Protection Agency, ‘why would you do this, if your principal concern is to protect children from serious infectious disease? Why would you remove an option from parents who are legitimately concerned about the safety of MMR?’ And her answer was extraordinary. She said to me, ‘if we allow parents the option of single vaccines, it would destroy our MMR program.’ In other words, her principal concern seemed to be full protection of the MMR program and not protection of children.”

Hear that??!?!

they’re interested in protecting the program… NOT children

Uggh.. what a frickin world we live in…

I seem to say that way too much lately

We’re Running Out of Infectious Diseases, So Let’s Make A Cancer Vaccine

Flickr - vaccines - Dawn HuczekDave Mihalovic, Prevent Disease
Waking Times

The title is utterly absurd, I know, but not if you’re a vaccine manufacturer looking for another cash cow. Treating cancer with a vaccine has been a wet dream of scientists for decades. It’s not often you have a disease that affects 50 percent of the population at some point in their lives. However, just like every other disease, cancer is not something that can be treated with chemicals and foreign DNA–a concept few vaccine scientists will ever admit to. Vaccines that attempt to thwart cancer cells will always prove better in theory than in practice, and at least some researchers are finally understanding why.

The HPV cervical cancer vaccine is a perfect example of how scientists use a lack of evidence-based medicine through unproven, unjustified and manipulated data to promote pharmaceutical intervention for a disease they fully know is impossible to prevent through this unscientific approach.

That never comes as a big surprise to most advocates in the natural health community, since no vaccine has ever been fully evaluated in humans to assess long-term health risks. HPV vaccines are no exception.

However, scientists are again being criticized for their persistence in engineering additional vaccines for a variety of cancers they know will never work in a practical sense. The idea is always supported by ongoing trials of so-called therapeutic cancer vaccines, which effectively shrink tumors in cell cultures in the lab, but it takes scientists a few years to figure out that the human body is not a few cell cultures in a lab.

When every single one of these promising vaccine candidates, including ones against melanoma and lymphoma, are tested in patients, they always fail.

Just five years ago, researchers from the University of Missouri and Imperial College London found evidence suggesting why vaccines directed against the virus that causes AIDS and many cancers do not work.

Another researcher, Willem Overwijk, an associate professor in the department of melanoma medical oncology at MD Anderson Cancer Center, and his colleagues found that instead of zeroing in on the tumor, vaccines that were injected in mice started to attack the adjuvant (designed to generate antibodies against bacteria and viruses) inside the vaccines. “While the vaccine successfully activates T cells, those T cells then circle back to the injection site where the mineral oil is still sitting under the skin,” says Overwijk. “Very few T cells make it to the tumor; they prefer to go back to the vaccination site.”

Essentially, he says, the vaccine is competing with the tumor for the attention of the immune cells, and the vaccine, because of its powerful ability to stimulate the defensive cells, tends to be more dominant. “That explains why we find nice levels of T cells in blood after vaccination but no correlation with a response against tumors in patients,” says Overwijk.

Results of another study published in the Journal of Clinical Oncologyalso found that vaccination does not benefit patients with cancer.

Prof. Alexander M.M. Eggermont of the Institut Gustave Roussy, Villejuif, Paris-Sud, and Universite Paris-Sud, Kremlin Bicetre, France and Coordinator of this study says, “These results clearly indicate that we do not fully comprehend the impact, on the whole, of multiple vaccinations. The effects of such vaccinations might well be detrimental as was clear at the time of the interim analysis that stopped this trial…”

But it seems this medical mirage of treating cancer with a vaccine will just not end, as trials have recently begun to use an anti-cancer vaccine implant for melanoma. The experimental implant is claimed to have worked on lab mice in 2009 according the researchers.

“It is rare to get a new technology tested in the laboratory and moved into human clinical trials so quickly,” said Glenn Dranoff, professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and part of the research team at the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University.

The device releases a protein that attracts immune cells and sends them out armed to hunt down and kill tumor cells. Again the theoretical approach will send scientists back to the drawing board when they realize that antigens will never bind to any tumor being targeted through an implant that bypasses the respiratory tract, which is the only established mechanism to initiate antibodies through a natural immune response via secretory IgA. This antibody plays a critical role in immunity. More IgA is produced in mucosal linings than all other types of antibodies combined and it’s one of the reasons that vaccines don’t work. You will never stimulate an appropriate immune response to any foreign entity through bypassing the mucosal linings of the body. It’s a simple concept, yet vaccine scientists refuse to acknowledge it.

The Province of Nova Scotia in Canada is lending $ 5 million to clinical-stage biotech Immunovaccine, to develop another vaccine for ovarian and brain cancer due out next year. The Halifax based company is also leveraging its platform in the development of anthrax vaccines (just to give you an idea where their heads are at).

Even experimental breast cancer vaccines have been developed by prestigious cancer centers such as John Hopkins. Many patients have died through experimental breast cancer vaccine trials on behalf of John Hopkins. The vaccine didn’t work for Peggy Murphy from Lancaster County, Pa and she often wondered why before she passed away as medical officials gave her false hope as they always do.

In fact, vaccines are being developed for almost every major cancer that exists. Researchers are working on vaccines for lung cancer, colon cancer, and even organ cancers. The madness doesn’t stop there. Scientists are even attempting to target a molecule found in 90 percent of all cancers, so they can create a universal cancer vaccine for any cancer at all.

The truth is that no cancer vaccine will ever defeat cancer. Never! Every research group developing these vaccines has a fundamental lack of understanding of what cancer is. Moreover, they consistently ignore biological mechanisms which underlie the foundation of both specific and non-specific components in immunity which will always govern adaptive immunity. Consequently, 99% of scientific research in the area of vaccines and disease is unfounded and based on long-standing myths that science continues to state as fact.

Lead Gardasil developer clears conscience, admits vaccine is useless and deadly

(NaturalNews) Did you know that one of the lead researchers involved with developing the two available vaccines for human papillomavirus (HPV), Gardasil (Merck & Co.) and Cervarix (GlaxoSmithKline), admitted back in 2009 that the jabs are essentially useless and more dangerous than the very conditions they are hailed as preventing and treating?

Before the vaccine industry apparently convinced her to change her story — you can read more about the saga here — Dr. Diane Harper, a key developer of Gardasil, is on the record as having cleared her conscience about this fraudulent vaccine, which has been shown to be both ineffective and dangerous.

One particular quote, which was pulled up using the Way Back Machine, reveals both Gardasil and Cervarix do nothing to prevent cervical cancer, which is their primary claim to fame. A 2009 article published by CBS News, in fact, which is still available online, reveals the truth about these snake oil vaccines.

“The rate of serious adverse events (from Gardasil) is on par with the death rate of cervical cancer,” admitted Dr. Harper at that time, refuting a pro-Gardasil piece published by Slate. “Gardasil has been associated with at least as many serious adverse events as there are deaths from cervical cancer developing each year.”

Dr. Harper went on to admit that deaths from Gardasil have been underreported by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), which has given the illusion that the vaccine is somehow safe. Beyond this, Dr. Harper dropped a bomb when she told reporters that the public health benefit of getting vaccinated with Gardasil “is nothing,” adding that the vaccine has led to “no reduction in cervical cancers.”

This admission by Dr. Harper rocked the conventional medical system, which has repeatedly lied to the public with claims that getting vaccinated for HPV will prevent the most common forms of cervical cancer. Because of these lies, literally millions of young girls and now boys, some as young as nine years old, have received the deadly jab since it was first introduced back in 2006.

Beyond this, Dr. Harper is on the record as having told attendees of the 4th International Public Conference on Vaccination back in 2009 that the vast majority of HPV infections resolve themselves on their own within a year, and nearly all of them within two years. She also admitted that an extremely small number of people experience symptoms from infection.

But not long after clearing her conscience on this important issue so that she could sleep at night, Dr. Harper basically retracted all of her statements, claiming that media reports citing them were made up. What? The vaccine industry or some other power apparently got to Dr. Harper and convinced her to change her story — either that or she is schizophrenic.

In any case, the truth about Gardasil and its counterpart Cervarix has been revealed, and still nothing has been done to pull the vaccine from the market. States like California and Michigan are actually administering these two vaccines to some children without parental consent, and many other states are “mandating” it for students who enroll in public school.

Meanwhile, there are many natural, homeopathic-based remedies that actually work to prevent diseases like HPV that are being ignored by the medical system.

The Other Big Vaccine Lie

Earlier this month, the New England Journal of Medicine published an eye-catching report, noting that new strains of whooping cough had turned up in 11 patients in North Philadelphia. Since then, dozens of news spots, blog posts, and even resources for doctors have fretted over the emergence of “vaccine-resistant pertussis.”

There’s only one problem: these headlines are all wrong.

Whooping Cough

Nurses Fatima Guillen, left, and Fran Wendt, right, give Kimberly Magdeleno, 4, a whooping cough booster shot, as she is held by her mother, Claudia Solorio at a health clinic in Tacoma, Washington, May 3, 2012. (Ted S. Warren/AP)

The vaccine almost certainly offers protection against the new strains. The problem raised by the authors of the report is that the protection might not last as long as it would against the older variants of whooping cough, leaving people vulnerable to infection sooner. No one knows yet whether these mutant strains in Philadelphia are circulating elsewhere in the country—or how much they’ve contributed to the national surge in whooping cough cases in the past few years. The protection offered by the current vaccine also wanes more rapidly than researchers once thought. But until someone makes a better version, the best we can do is immunize to the hilt, making the most of the only real tool we have.

To see why the Philly mutants are causing such confusion, some vaccine science is in order. Bear with me. The original whooping cough vaccines, introduced in the 1940s, were a messy soup, made from dead whole cells of bacteria. They were highly successful against a dreaded childhood killer. But they also tended to cause reactions, like high fevers, in some kids. So in the 1990s, the United States and other countries switched to acellular versions, which rely on just a few bacterial components (typically either three or five), rather than whole cells, to stimulate the immune system. These components include a deactivated form of the pertussis toxin (thought to cause the characteristic awful coughing) and a protein called pertactin, which the actual bug uses to attach to the respiratory lining.

The big surprise with the Philadelphia strains, however, is that they don’t make pertactin. In other words, they don’t wave one of the flags that the immune system has been trained (by the vaccine) to recognize and attack. That is probably why so many observers have called them “vaccine-resistant,” or said that they wear an invisibility cloak.

The new strains don’t wave one of the flags that the immune system has been trained to recognize
and attack.

But the immune system can still see the new strains, thanks to the other ingredients in the vaccine, especially the deactivated pertussis toxin. The strains are “definitely not ‘vaccine-resistant,’” as Dr. Alan Evangelista, director of microbiology at St. Christopher’s Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, and one of the authors of the New England Journal paper, told me. The omnipresence of the phrase is disturbing, too. As Tom Clark, a pertussis expert at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, put it: “We don’t want people to start believing that the vaccine doesn’t work.” It does.

Still, the vaccine’s protective effect may wear off faster when it comes to the new strains. That’s because the longest-lasting benefit may come from the ability to recognize pertactin, according to Jan Poolman, the global head of bacterial vaccines for Janssen pharmaceutical companies. (In technical terms, antibodies to pertactin seem to remain at higher levels in the bloodstream for longer than antibodies to pertussis toxin or other vaccine components.) So it’s possible that four or five years after vaccination, a strain that doesn’t announce itself with this protein might be harder for the body to combat. Clinical studies are needed, however, to know for sure.

The biggest question, of course, is how much this matters to recent epidemic levels of the disease. No one knows yet whether pertactin-negative strains are circulating widely in the U.S., beyond Philadelphia. It seems likely that they are, especially since other such strains have been found in France, Finland, and Japan. But the national surveillance data are not yet in. Researchers at the CDC have also begun to probe their collection of the pertussis-causing bacteria. So far, they have analyzed 666 samples, gathered from 1935 through 2009, and have not found any that lacked pertactin, Dr. Clark told me. But they’re still working on more recent ones. (The strains identified in the New England Journal paper were from 2011 and 2012.)

Waning immunity to the vaccine is already a hot topic, quite apart from the new strains, as experts try to explain surges in the disease. They note that the acellular vaccine does not offer as long-lasting protection as the old whole-cell versions did. Which appears to be why children who received acellular shots as babies, starting in the late 1990s, have been especially hard-hit in recent years. (Children get shots at 2 months, 4 months, 6 months, 2 to 3 years and 4 to 6 years of age. But as they reach older childhood, their risk of pertussis seems to steadily climb, until they receive their 11- to 12-year-old boosters. Teenagers are also at risk, as are adults.)

An influx of pertactin-negative strains might or might not be making matters worse, by making even vaccinated people vulnerable to disease more quickly than they otherwise would be. But either way, our best bet for now is to roll up those sleeves.
