Dallas City Council Expands Ban On First Amendment

Newly expanded ordinance outlaws any activity the city claims to be “distracting to motorists”

Kit Daniels
Infowars.com
January 24, 2014

The Dallas, Texas City Council recently expanded an existing ordinance which bans anyone carrying a sign within 75 feet of a freeway to also prohibit anyone from peacefully assembling on or near service roads, bridges and overpasses, including those not holding signs and individuals the city considers to be dressed provocatively.

Protest Ordinance

Passed by the council at their latest meeting, the expanded ordinance gives police and code enforcement officers free reign to ticket or arrest anyone that they deem to be “distracting motorists,” a term vague enough for the government to enforce in almost any situation without an actual complaint.

“Rather than prohibit the carrying of signs that distract motorists within 75 feet of the designated highways, the proposed amendment would prohibit all conduct intended to distract motorists by individuals standing within the lateral curb line of the highways, including adjoining service or frontage roads as well as on bridges or overpasses over the highways,” the proposal reads.

The ban includes individuals who are not holding signs and those who are “wearing any costume, clothing, attire or accessory intended to attract or seek the attention of the public,” provisions which are so broad, they would seemingly apply to those wearing swimsuits while advertising a charity car wash and even those wearing the latest in fashion trends.

Out of Dallas’s 14 city council members, four voted against the measure, including one member who blasted the ordinance as violating the First Amendment, according to the Dallas News.

The council member, Philip Kingston, also added that the ordinance opens the city up to additional lawsuits.

However, the Chair of the Transportation and Trinity River Project Committee, Vonciel Jones Jill, supported the proposal and said that under the old ordinance, officers did not have authority to regulate the conduct of citizens assembled in public.

“No one is attempting to control speech,” she said. “That is not the point of the ordinance.”

“The point is to regulate conduct.”

Jill would be wise to actually read the First Amendment, because it recognizes the right of the people to assemble peacefully, not just the right to free speech.

Officials will no doubt use this ordinance to shut down any sort of gathering that challenges their authority and the status quo by hiding their political suppression under the guise of “driver safety.”

Back in November, the Dallas Police Dept. attempted to stop Alex Jones and the Infowars crew from protesting outside the Federal Reserve building.

A spokesperson for the police told the crowd that by carrying signs and handing out flyers in public, they were violating two city ordinances.

“Within 75 feet of a freeway or service road, according to the Dallas city ordinance, you may not hold a sign,” she said, adding that handing out leaflets to drivers was also violating city code.

These officials are simply using city ordinances to deceptively violate basic human freedoms recognized by the Bill of Rights.

Dallas Sheriff’s Dept. Lies About Assault On Peaceful Protestors

Sheriff’s spokesperson completely distorts the truth

Kit Daniels

November 23, 2013

The spokesperson for the Dallas Co., Texas sheriff completely distorted the department’s violent attack on peaceful demonstrators by stating that the deputies ordered the crowd to move and disperse when no such order was ever given prior to yesterday’s assault.

Carmen Castro, spokeswoman for Sheriff Lupe Valdez, told the Dallas Morning News that the deputies violently charged the free speech demonstrators because they were crowding “not only private citizens who were attempting to pay their respects but also equipment that was in place for the event.”

She further stated that the demonstrators was forcibly moved back after they “refused to obey.”

Yet the deputies gave no such orders to the crowd prior to their assault. As the beginning of our own footage shows, the deputies marched to the crowd with the intent to attack and nothing else.

The crowd had been waiting outside Dealey Plaza, which the City of Dallas promised to open to the public at 2:30pm.

The local mainstream media outlets are also covering for the sheriff’s dept. by spinning the circumstances surrounding the attack.

The article in the Dallas Morning News further stated that the deputies shoved the crowd down the street because they “decided they’d had enough.”

Local police, however, are effectively federalized during special events, taking orders from federal agencies such as the DHS. The deputies didn’t decide anything.

In fact, when we questioned one of the deputies after the assault, he said that he was just acting on orders from above.

After the attack, an Infowars reader e-mailed a local Dallas news station to ask why there was hardly any coverage on it.

The news spokesperson completely spun the story, suggesting that the police are “allowed” to keep people out of a “restricted area” and that the protestors were “trying to get into” an event where a ticket was required.

The area was not “restricted.” It was a public street OUTSIDE of a barricaded area.

What’s more, the Dallas Police provided the public access to the area where they were attacked. At no time were any barricades breached or removed.

This is a textbook example of government officials and media outlets working hand-in-hand to distort the truth and cover up criminality.

Alex Jones to lead demonstrations against censorship of First Amendment in Dallas

Texans to Protest Censorship of Free Speech in Dallas JFK Events tsquareThe anniversary of the death of John Fitzgerald Kennedy, the nation’s 35th president, occurs this Friday in the north Texas city where the shadow government silenced him fifty years ago.

Since his death, countless people have sought answers and disagreed with the government’s portrayal of what took place that day, chiefly that former marine Lee Harvey Oswald was a lone wolf assassin and that he used a “magic bullet” to kill the president.

Now in an unprecedented effort to squelch free speech, the City of Dallas has moved to cordon off huge areas of the city and has attempted to prohibit citizens from carrying signs with messages countering the official narrative, and even filming in certain downtown areas.

Texans to Protest Censorship of Free Speech in Dallas JFK Events closures

“Due to construction, renovations and preparations for the 50th JFK Anniversary event, extensive filming will not be allowed in Dealey Plaza area from September 1st through November 24, 2013,” a memo from the City of Dallas states.

The moves to cordon off the city and prohibit filming are outrageous in light of polls showing a clear majority still don’t buy the official story. Even Secretary of State John “Skull and Bones” Kerry has come forward professing his doubts.

When Chinese citizens stood up in Tiananmen Square in defense of free speech, they were admired around the world. But when the evisceration of that right happens in the supposed land of the free, home of the brave, it’s not even an issue.

The state run media’s propaganda mechanisms are also in high gear reinforcing the establishment’s view and running sniveling headlines demonizing “conspiracy theorists,” claiming all the Dallas mayor wants is to keep order and decorum.

But under threats of lawsuit by different groups like COPA, the city has caved to numerous concessions like allowing the handing out of leaflets and t-shirts, and hanging banners… but only in designated areas, when all of these activities are clearly free speech.

In attempting to control the events, which will be televised for billions worldwide, the social engineers in Dallas hope to suppress and reverse the huge awakening taking place to the fact that a shadow government and rogue elements within the military industrial complex engaged in a coup d’état, exactly what Dwight D. Eisenhower warned of just two years previous in his farewell address. It’s also imperative to recognize that the real power structure is the private run-for-profit Federal Reserve.

On Wednesday, Alex Jones will kick off three days of demonstrations and protests at the Federal Reserve building at the corner of Pearl and Woodall Rodgers Freeway, a location he has previously demonstrated at three separate times with other Americans.

From 8 to 9PM on Wednesday night, Jones and his crew will hand out thousands of free fliers exposing the violations of free speech. Activist patriots can then descend on downtown Dallas Thursday, and of course the 50th anniversary on Friday, with the powerful, unfiltered information and alert the sleeping citizenry to the attempted censorship.

We’re also planning a First Amendment march on Thursday, which will soon be announced, and on the key day of Friday.

These demonstrations are all about the First Amendment, the freedom of the press, expression and free speech, and we’re going to be there.

“The system would have been wise not to try to assassinate the First Amendment like they did JFK,” states Alex Jones. “But because they did this, their efforts will be used instead to further awaken the sleeping giant that is the American people and people of the world.”

We need everyone out Wednesday night to get the fliers, and to participate in these demonstrations whenever they can, whether it’s all three days or one hour.

We’re calling on people from all over the planet to come down and get those fliers and get them out to people in the downtown area.

Dallas Fed Dumps From 19-Month High; Misses By Most In 6 Months
http://currenteconomictrendsandnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/10/2abe8__20131028_dallas.jpg

Last month was all ponies and unicorns as hope was extrapolated that a 19-month high in the Dallas Fed meant this time was different and not entirely cyclical as we have pointed out again and again. Once again it seems the government-budget-based hope has collapsed as even optimism for the future dropped to its lowest in 4 months. This is the biggest miss of expectations on six months and the lowest print in 5 months. Reflecting the margin pressures that we discussed previously, prices received dropped dramatically as price paid soared.

and it appears margins will remain under pressure in the futures:

Looking ahead, 39 percent of respondents anticipate further increases in raw materials prices over the next six months, while 34 percent expect higher finished goods prices.
