“Noah” Promotes The Luciferian Gnostic Belief That The Creator Of This World Is Evil

Russell Crowe as Noah

In the new Hollywood blockbuster “Noah”, the Creator of this world is portrayed as an evil homicidal maniac that utterly hates humanity, and the Serpent is portrayed as the one holding the secret that will restore the “divine spark” to humanity.  Unfortunately, most Christians (even those that have reviewed this film negatively) have totally missed the Luciferian Gnostic themes that are being openly promoted by this film.  I have previously written about how “Noah” turns the fallen angels into good guys that actually help Noah build the Ark, but the occult themes in this movie go much deeper than that.  Director Darren Aronofsky has expertly woven elements of Luciferianism, Gnosticism and even from the Kabbalah throughout the film.  Over the years, hundreds of millions of people all over the world that watch this movie will be exposed to the Luciferian gospel without even realizing it.

There are many different strands of Gnosticism, but in the version that I call “Luciferian Gnosticism”, the Creator of this world is an evil being known as “the Demiurge” and the Serpent is a good being that possesses the secret knowledge (“gnosis”) that will help humanity rediscover the “divine spark” that already resides inside of them.  The following is how Wikipedia describes how the Gnostics tend to view God…

Gnosticism presents a distinction between the highest, unknowable God and the demiurgic “creator” of the material. Several systems of Gnostic thought present the Demiurge as antagonistic to the will of the Supreme Being: his act of creation occurs in unconscious semblance of the divine model, and thus is fundamentally flawed, or else is formed with the malevolent intention of entrapping aspects of the divine in materiality. Thus, in such systems, the Demiurge acts as a solution to (or, at least possibly, the problem or cause that gives rise to) the problem of evil.

In the most radical form of Christian Gnosticism, the Demiurge is the “jealous God” of the Old Testament.

And this is precisely how the God of the Bible is portrayed in “Noah” as Dr. Brian Mattson recently pointed out…

Except that when Gnostics speak about “The Creator” they are not talking about God. Oh, here in an affluent world living off the fruits of Christendom the term “Creator” generally denotes the true and living God. But here’s a little “Gnosticism 101” for you: the Creator of the material world is an ignorant, arrogant, jealous, exclusive, violent, low-level, bastard son of a low level deity. He’s responsible for creating the “unspiritual” world of flesh and matter, and he himself is so ignorant of the spiritual world he fancies himself the “only God” and demands absolute obedience. They generally call him “Yahweh.” Or other names, too (Ialdabaoth, for example).

This Creator tries to keep Adam and Eve from the true knowledge of the divine and, when they disobey, flies into a rage and boots them from the garden.

In other words, in case you’re losing the plot here: The serpent was right all along. This “god,” “The Creator,” whom they are worshiping is withholding something from them that the serpent will provide: divinity itself.

In “Noah”, essentially the Creator is the bad guy and the serpent is the good guy, just like in hardcore Gnosticism.

Another way that Gnosticism manifests itself in the film is that Adam and Eve are portrayed as bright, shiny, luminescent beings before the Fall.  It is only after the Fall that they take on flesh and bone.

This is also pure Gnosticism.  In the second century AD, Irenaeus of Lyon wrote the following regarding what one particular group of Gnostics believed…

“Adam and Eve formerly had light, luminous, and so to speak spiritual bodies, as they had been fashioned. But when they came here, the bodies became dark, fat, and idle.”

We can also find this doctrine in Kabbalism according to Dr. Mattson

It occurred to me that a mystical tradition more closely related to Judaism, called Kabbalah (which the singer Madonna made popular a decade ago or so), surely would have held a similar view, since it is essentially a form of Jewish Gnosticism. I dusted off (No, really: I had to dust it) my copy of Adolphe Franck’s 19th century work, The Kabbalah, and quickly confirmed my suspicions:

“Before they were beguiled by the subtleness of the serpent, Adam and Eve were not only exempt from the need of a body, but did not even have a body—that is to say, they were not of the earth.”

And guess what?  Dr. Mattson also pointed out that Aronofsky’s very first feature film was all about the Kabbalah…

I discovered what Darren Aronofsky’s first feature film was: Pi. Want to know its subject matter? Do you? Are you sure?

Kabbalah.

If you think that’s a coincidence, you may want a loved one to schedule you a brain scan.

Wow.

When I first read that, I was absolutely stunned.

A movie that is openly promoting Gnosticism and Kabbalism has been pawned off to Christians as a “Biblical movie”, and millions of them are falling for it hook, line and sinker.

In Gnosticism, humanity has a dual nature.  The physical part comes from the evil Creator, but there is also a good part that comes from the “true God”.  According to Gnostic belief, the evil Creator is constantly trying to keep humanity from discovering the “divine spark” that supposedly resides within us all.  The following is a brief summary of how the Gnostics view humanity…

Human nature mirrors the duality found in the world: in part it was made by the false creator God and in part it consists of the light of the True God. Humankind contains a perishable physical and psychic component, as well as a spiritual component which is a fragment of the divine essence. This latter part is often symbolically referred to as the “divine spark”. The recognition of this dual nature of the world and of the human being has earned the Gnostic tradition the epithet of “dualist”.

Humans are generally ignorant of the divine spark resident within them. This ignorance is fostered in human nature by the influence of the false creator and his Archons, who together are intent upon keeping men and women ignorant of their true nature and destiny. Anything that causes us to remain attached to earthly things serves to keep us in enslavement to these lower cosmic rulers. Death releases the divine spark from its lowly prison, but if there has not been a substantial work of Gnosis undertaken by the soul prior to death, it becomes likely that the divine spark will be hurled back into, and then re-embodied within, the pangs and slavery of the physical world.

Not all humans are spiritual (pneumatics) and thus ready for Gnosis and liberation. Some are earthbound and materialistic beings (hyletics), who recognize only the physical reality. Others live largely in their psyche (psychics). Such people usually mistake the Demiurge for the True God and have little or no awareness of the spiritual world beyond matter and mind.

In Gnosticism, secret knowledge (“gnosis”) is the key to “liberation” and “enlightenment”.

And who provides that secret knowledge?

It comes from the Serpent.  He was trying to provide that secret knowledge about the divine spark to Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden, and he has supposedly been doing that ever since.

In “Noah”, this secret knowledge is represented by the serpent skin that shows up throughout the film.  In the movie, this serpent skin was supposedly shed by the Serpent in the Garden of Eden.  Here is another excerpt from Dr. Brian Mattson’s recent article

The action opens when Lamech is about to bless his son, Noah. Lamech, rather strangely for a patriarch of a family that follows God, takes out a sacred relic, the skin of the serpent from the Garden of Eden. He wraps it around his arm, stretches out his hand to touch his son—except, just then, a band of marauders interrupts them and the ceremony isn’t completed. Lamech gets killed, and the “villain” of the film, Tubal-Cain, steals the snakeskin. Noah, in other words, doesn’t get whatever benefit the serpent’s skin was to bestow.

This movie is Luciferian to the core.

It is just another step in the massive ongoing propaganda campaign to convince the world that the Creator God of the Bible is evil, and that Lucifer (“the Light-bearer”) is good and is trying to bring “enlightenment” to humanity.

Tea Party-Slandering MSNBCer Reid Steadfastly Refuses to Call Putin or Assad ‘Evil’

Appearing on Hugh Hewitt’s radio show on Monday, MSNBC host Joy Reid repeatedly refused to characterize either Russian president Vladimir Putin or Syrian president Bashar al-Assad as “evil.” During a contentious debate over Russia’s invasion of eastern Ukraine, Hewitt asked his guest point-blank, “Do you agree that what Russia is doing is evil?” [Video embedded below the break.]

Reid hedged on her answer, replying:

I think what Russia is doing is troubling and is a problem in the world. I don’t really need to use characterizations like “evil.” I think Russia is a bad actor, absolutely.

Reid then tried to deflect attention to, of all people, former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani: “I think Giuliani thinks that Putin’s a star. I think today he said he’s a great leader or something like that.” In fact, Giuliani said that Putin is more of a leader than President Obama, which is different than calling him a great leader or a “star.”

Reid wouldn’t say what she thought of Putin, so Hewitt pressed her: “[B]ut Joy Reid, it’s a simple question. Is he evil?” However, Reid still refused to make such a judgment. She replied, “I’m not inside anybody’s mind. I don’t need to characterize anybody as evil. I don’t know Vladimir Putin.”

Hewitt then asked if it would be an evil act for Russia to attack Ukrainian bases with women and children inside. Reid only said it would be a “world crisis.”

The conservative radio host then switched gears and asked the liberal MSNBC host if she thought Syria’s Bashar al-Assad was evil. With a chuckle, Reid replied, “Oh, well, you know. I’m not even – like I said, I’m not characterizing people.” She went on to call him “an even worse actor and an awful human being.”

Hewitt asked again if she thought Assad was evil, and Reid responded by answering a question that Hewitt didn’t ask: “Would I like to see Bashar al-Assad gone? Absolutely.” Hewitt asked one final time if Assad was evil, and Reid refused to label him as such one last time. She said, “I don’t see the point of characterizing people like that. I think he’s a bad actor. I think he is a despicable leader, a despicable human being.”

That is the world that too many liberals live in – a world of moral uncertainty, where there is no good or evil and no brutal dictator is anything more than a “bad actor.” By refusing to characterize Putin and Assad as “evil,” Reid is essentially equating them with conservatives, whom she has vehemently attacked over the years.

Last July, for example, Reid compared the Tea Party to terrorists when it came to budget negotiations:

To put it another way, when somebody is threatening to bomb the stadium, you don’t go out and make a speech about how you’re willing to dismantle the stadium in order to appease them.

In October, Reid likened Republicans to hostage-takers for shutting down the government. She railed, “So they are now essentially taking hostages. But this is beyond a hostage situation. They have shot a hostage. They went ahead and shut the government down.”

And in September, Reid claimed that anti-ObamaCare Republicans were basically asking people to kill themselves:

[H]erein lies the great irony about the conservative objection to Obamacare. What are they actually asking people to do? They’re actually asking you to essentially kill yourself, because if you get sick and you don’t have insurance, and you can’t be treated, you cannot survive a catastrophic illness.

She makes conservative Republicans sound like “bad actors,” which is how she characterized Putin and Assad. I guess to Reid, there is no difference between two repressive world leaders and the liberty-loving political party in this country.

Below is a transcript of the segment from The Hugh Hewitt Show:

HUGH HEWITT: Do you agree that what Russia is doing is evil?

JOY REID: I think what Russia is doing is troubling and is a problem in the world. I don’t really need to use characterizations like ‘evil.’ I think Russia is a bad actor, absolutely. I think it’s pretty clear who the bad actor here is. It’s Russia – who, by the way, a lot of the right – I think Giuliani thinks that Putin’s a star. I think today he said he’s a great leader or something like that. You have a lot of people on the right who’ve been quite, you know, keen on Vladimir Putin up until now. I think people have to now decide, do they still want to make him their hero because they hate Barack Obama so much when this is the way he’s acting? He’s old, Kremlin, Cold War Vlad. He’s doing what Vladimir Putin does, and now the rest of the world has to realize that this is not, you know, Vladimir Putin 2.0. This is Vladimir Putin 1.0.

HEWITT: But is he – but Joy Reid, it’s a simple question. Is he evil?

REID: That – you know what? I’m not inside anybody’s mind. I don’t need to characterize anybody as evil. I don’t know Vladimir Putin – I know what he’s doing is – it’s risky to his own country. I mean, it’s risky, obviously, to what the Ukrainians need in terms of security. I think he is a bad actor. I don’t need to call him evil, he’s a bad actor.

HEWITT: They’ve got a deadline in a couple of hours. They’re gonna open fire on these Ukrainian bases with women and children in it. Would that be an evil act that he’s authorizing?

Story Continues Below Ad ↓

REID: Right, you have intel that I don’t know if the U.S. government has. I think that if Russia were to escalate militarily in Ukraine, it would be a crisis. It would definitely be a crisis, and it would be a world crisis. And it’s not – I think that one of the problems we have is that we have this binary system, right, where people on the right – it feels good to say, ‘this person is evil, let’s bomb them.’ That is not foreign policy. That is bluster that may make Americans feel good, but A) there is no military solution there. Americans are not sending our troops in there to deal with this. We are not doing that.

HEWITT: I didn’t suggest that. I just wanted to call him evil, ‘cause I –

REID: – couple times. I don’t think that’s necessary. We need to deal with it. We have to still deal with Russia.

HEWITT: Do you call anybody evil?

REID: – make it easier – yeah, but does that make it easier? It makes it easier for us to deal with Iran and Russia. We still have to deal with them on Syria. This is somebody that is there, that we’re not going to depose Vladimir Putin. We’ve got to deal with him.

HEWITT: Joy, is Assad evil?

REID: Bashar Assad?

HEWITT: Yeah.

REID: Oh, well, you know. [chuckles] I’m not even – like I said, I’m not characterizing people. Bashar al-Assad is an even worse, an even worse actor and an awful human being. That is a noxious, despicable regime. We’d be better off if he weren’t there. The people of Syria are trying their best to do something about it. Again, there’s no American military solution to be imposed there, either, and I doubt your listeners want us to go in there and try to impose that.

HEWITT: But is he evil?

REID: Would I like to see Bashar al-Assad gone? Absolutely.

HEWITT: Well, yeah, but I just want to know if you think he’s evil.

REID: I don’t – I don’t see the point of characterizing people like that. I think he’s a bad actor. I think he is a despicable leader, a despicable human being.

Google: Doing Evil with ALEC

EvilGoogleGoogle Inc. is now aligned with the notorious ALEC.

Quietly, Google has joined ALEC — the American Legislative Exchange Council — the shadowy corporate alliance that pushes odious laws through state legislatures.

In the process, Google has signed onto an organization that promotes such regressive measures as tax cuts for tobacco companies, school privatization to help for-profit education firms, repeal of state taxes for the wealthy and opposition to renewable energy disliked by oil companies.

ALEC’s reactionary efforts – thoroughly documented by the Center for Media and Democracy — are shameful assaults on democratic principles. And Google is now among the hundreds of companies in ALEC. Many people who’ve admired Google are now wondering: how could this be?

Well, in his recent book “Digital Disconnect: How Capitalism Is Turning the Internet Against Democracy,” Robert W. McChesney provides vital context. “It is true that with the advent of the Internet many of the successful giants — Apple and Google come to mind — were begun by idealists who may have been uncertain whether they really wanted to be old-fashioned capitalists,” he writes. “The system in short order has whipped them into shape.”

McChesney adds: “Any qualms about privacy, commercialism, avoiding taxes, or paying low wages to Third World factory workers were quickly forgotten. It is not that the managers are particularly bad and greedy people — indeed their individual moral makeup is mostly irrelevant — but rather that the system sharply rewards some types of behavior and penalizes other types of behavior so that people either get with the program and internalize the necessary values or they fail.”

Google has widely mythologized itself as some kind of humanistic techno-pioneer. Obscured in a fog of digital legend is the agenda that more than ever is transfixed with maximizing profits while capitalizing on anti-democratic leverage of corporate power. Google’s involvement in ALEC is consistent with the company’s mega-business model that relentlessly exploits rigorous data-mining of emails, online searches and so much more.

Yet image-conscious companies can be skittish about public pressure. That helps to explain why dozens of firms withdrew from ALEC during the last year.

A few days ago — when my colleagues at RootsAction.org sent out an email alert about news of ALEC’s connection with Google as well as with Facebook and Yelp — more than 25,000 people quickly signed a petition urging those companies to “stop funding ALEC.” Several thousand of the petition signers added comments that can be read online along with the petition.

Those comments reflect widening comprehension of Google and the significance of its alignment with ALEC. Here’s a sampling:

“I expected better. Maybe that was naive.”  James C., San Jose, CA

“What happened to your big pledge? ‘Don’t be evil’? Guess it was just words…”  Lois W., Sun City, AZ

“Better check your definition of EVIL — look it up on Google…”  Armando A., Vista, CA

“Please don’t fund tyranny. You were supposed to be one of the good guys.”  Ernest W., Easthampton, MA

“Your credibility is fading associating with this kind of scum.”  John B., Easton, CT

“You are subverting the wishes of your clients/users while undermining democracy.”  Vincent G., Sioux Falls, SD

“Shame on you. Think about what the majority of your users want instead of the ‘rich’ guys.”  Karen B., Westminster, CO

“If you continue to support ALEC, I will along with countless others, discontinue use of ALL your products and services!”  Ronald P., Milford Center, OH

“Quit helping to Destroy our democracy.”  Kevin B., Lynnwood, WA

“Corporate power is corrupting this nation’s ability to have a decent governing system.”  Jean and Jesper C., Louisville, KY

“What is wrong with Google acting like the one tenth of the 1%? Too much filthy lucre has covered their conscience.”  Doug Y., Albany, CA

“Google! How could you do this? Don’t you realize this organization stands for ALL the wrong things? I’m sure most of your employees would not want to belong to ALEC. Please reconsider for their sake and that of all of us.”  Judith S., Carbondale, IL

“If you sleep with dogs, you get fleas.”  Robert J., Fern Park, FL

“Shame! We thought you were supposed to be a tool for the people, not a tool for the corporations!”  Sharon T., Irvine, CA

“Happy Sociopath Day to you people!”  Gary S., Big Bear Lake, CA

“Google has evolved to be one of the most unethical corporations in the world!”  Eric K., Montclair, NJ

“This is so obviously evil, and it causes real suffering.”  Terrell S., Seattle, WA

“Don’t you corporate executives make enough money? How much can you spend? Don’t you realize that people have to have money to buy your product? What the heck are you ‘dumb-asses’ thinking?”  Lon K., Waterloo, IA

The 5 Most Cartoonishly Evil Banks of All Time

If banks are evil, it’s the most boring kind of evil possible. When they repossess a house, they do so with a form and a condescending tone, not a snake-themed helicopter and an anti-gravity ray. They may be the closest thing we have to a real-world villainous organization a la SPECTRE, but that’s because the real world is friggin’ tedious — no bank is out there hiring hit squads and funding terrorism, right?

Well, actually …

#5. Nugan Hand Will Chop Your Family into Bits

Photos.com

On paper, the Australian bank Nugan Hand was a high-class establishment. Founded by a lawyer and an American ex-Green Beret with only $ 1,000 in seed money, they quickly expanded, serving the needs of prominent U.S. military brass, including two generals, an admiral, and a former CIA director. Banking with Nugan Hand was like depositing your paycheck at the Hall of Justice, if the Hall of Justice offered a sweet 16 percent interest rate on deposits and always smelled like vanilla and Febreze.

Photos.com
Which is unnecessary, since cash smells pretty damn good on its own.

The Evil

Wait, 16 percent interest? Holy crap! Haha, how can they afford that? What are they doing with your money to be able to return that kind of interest? They must be funding friggin’ drug runs with your paycheck or ohhhh crap.

That’s exactly what they’re doing, isn’t it?

Keith Brofsky/Photodisc/Getty Images
In retrospect, bank tellers don’t typically ask you to “Show me that paper, son.”

Yep. That ludicrously competitive interest rate was largely funded by the massive heroin operation they were running. Mike Hand, the former Green Beret, helped launch Nugan Hand as a cover for the $ 25 million he received from drug dealers, arms smugglers, and (possibly) the CIA, who may have been using the bank to fund covert operations in Eastern Asia. During their seven years of business, Nugan Hand stole at least $ 50 million from their investors. And it’s not like you could get it back by coming in and berating the teller into refunding your unfair overdraft/embezzlement fees — their boss once promised to chop up his employees’ wives and mail the parts to them in a box, Se7en style, if they ever disobeyed him. That’s a slightly more effective threat than your “I’ll take my business elsewhere.”

Keith Brofsky/Photodisc/Getty Images
“We’re not saying selecting ‘Close Account’ opens a trap door into spikes, but we’re not saying it doesn’t.”

The whole thing eventually collapsed in 1980 with co-founder Francis Nugan’s suicide, but if you’re hoping this story ended with some swift and merciless justice, we’re sorry: Aside from Nugan, pretty much everyone involved got off scot-free. Hand was last seen boarding a plane with a false beard, and all the remaining senior employees have refused to testify, which is something you’re apparently allowed to do if you’re rich enough.

This pretty much entitles you to refer to the district attorney as “my bitch.”

As for its depositors, they lost everything. But honestly, if you do your banking with Nugan Hand — the most plainly ominous business name this side of the Dark Brotherhood — you were probably prepared for the inevitable dramatic double-cross.

#4. “God’s Banker” Funded Terrorism and Civil War

Jupiterimages/liquidlibrary/Getty Images

Founded in the 19th century with the backing of the Vatican, Banco Ambrosiano’s mission was to provide an alternative to secular banks, because we all know that the only person you can trust more than a banker is a high-ranking official of the Catholic Church. A mere century of holy deposits later, they were the second-largest private bank in Italy. More than a bank, actually — they were a sacred institution. In the 1970s, CEO Roberto Calvi was known as “God’s banker.”

“We’ve decided to waive that overdraft fee rather than risk being turned into pillars of salt.”

Surely, with a title like that, nothing could go terribly and ironically wrong …

The Evil

God probably should’ve joined a credit union. Calvi used most of his time in charge of Banco Ambrosiano to launder the Mafia’s drug money, bribe Italian and American politicians, and sell weapons to both sides of the Nicaraguan Civil War.

Stockbyte/Stockbyte/Getty Images
Sunday school songs feature “little children” instead of “violent Third World contras” for a reason.

Eventually, however, Banco Ambrosiano got too big for their own frock, and things started to fall apart. A 1982 investigation revealed that the bank could not account for around $ 1.3 billion in deposits. Keep in mind that, while today’s banks blow that kind of cash on breakfast champagne and gold-leaf toilet paper, $ 1.3 billion in 1982 dollars was basically all of it. All of the money.

Even the Mafia got spooked by all the heat the holy bank was bringing. They started cutting both ties and the throats they were wrapped around: A high-ranking regulator was found dead in Corsica shortly before Calvi’s secretary committed suicide, and Calvi himself was found hanging from Blackfriar’s Bridge in London — a death ruled a suicide until basic common sense and a 2003 re-examination uncovered that it was pretty definitely a murder.

George Doyle/Stockbyte/Getty Images
“We’ll rule it whatever you want, just keep this shit between yourselves.”

If any of this sounds familiar, it’s probably because parts of The Godfather: Part III were based on the scandal. That’s right: terrorism, death, embezzlement, war, sinister political machinations, AND The Godfather: Part III. Truly, Banco Ambrosiano is responsible for some of the worst tragedies known to man.

#3. BCCI Has a Secret Private Black Ops Force

Photos.com

The Bank of Credit and Commerce International was established in 1972 and soon became one of the largest private financial institutions in the world, with deposits of over $ 20 billion and clients like the United Arab Emirates government. At its peak, it had 400 branches in 72 countries around the world. But as anybody who’s broken a controller in the Lost Woods can tell you, just because something has a lot of branches, that doesn’t mean you can trust it.

Zeldainformer.com
Unfortunately, “up, left, down, left” seldom works in international finance.

The Evil

Banks are like vomit: They’re pretty easy to take care of when contained in one place, but once you spread them over a wide enough area, everyone just pretends they can’t see the mess, rather than risk having to clean it up.

We, uh … look, nobody said we were good roommates.

Back to the banks. Being no one’s responsibility gave BCCI free rein to embark on a massive crime spree that would make Grand Theft Auto proud: laundering money for Panamanian dictator Manuel Noriega, brokering illegal nuclear weapons sales, selling top-secret American technology to Iraq, running one of the largest Ponzi schemes in history, and doing the financial dirty work for virtually every major terrorist group in the world.

Cooperativeresearch.org
Plus the customer service line is, like, a 45-minute wait. We just need to order checks, you monsters!

They stopped just shy of spawning a tank and ramping it into a prostitute. BCCI even started their own private enforcement squad called the Black Network (Cobra Commander would be so proud) to take care of all the extortion, kidnapping, and murder that is apparently such a big part of tracking deposited money. When suspicious U.S. regulators refused to grant them a banking license (our banks usually don’t have elite, shadowy fighting forces — it really hikes up the insurance rates), BCCI just shrugged and employed some front companies and fraudulent loans to circumvent the law, and got right back to evilin’ up the place.

Photos.com
“This ought to fool that crafty Federal Reserve.”

BCCI’s massive network of influence kept them consistently just a few steps ahead of the law. In the end, it took 62 countries conducting seven simultaneous raids to finally bring them down and 13 years to sort out where the money was. Even now, no one fully understands everything BCCI was up to, but we would be shocked — shocked — if it didn’t involve some kind of laser and a moon base.

Muslims Need to Confront Muslim Evil

With this weekend’s massacre by Muslim terrorists at a mall in Nairobi, Kenya, and Muslim terrorists killing about 80 Christians at a Christian church in Pakistan, most people wonder what, if anything in addition to a continuing war on terror, can be done to minimize the scourge of Islamic terror.

The answer lies with Muslims themselves. Specifically, it means that Muslim religious leaders around the world must announce that any Muslim who deliberately targets non-combatants for death goes to hell.

I arrive at this answer based on something that I have long believed about Pope Pius XII and the Holocaust.

I readily acknowledge that the situations are not the same. The Jews of Europe were not annihilated by Catholics in the name of Catholicism; whereas the Christians, Muslims and Jews who are massacred by Islamic terrorists are murdered by Muslims in the name of Islam.

I also readily acknowledge that many of the attacks on Pope Pius XII for his alleged inaction and even collaboration with the Nazis during the Holocaust are animated by individuals who hate Western religion generally or hate the Catholic Church specifically. Pius XII was not “Hitler’s Pope,” as one best-selling book on Pius XII is titled.

Moreover, Pius XII lived in Italy during World War II, in a fascist dictatorship that began as Hitler’s ally and ended up being the target of Nazi atrocities. This was not the case with President Franklin D. Roosevelt, for example, who lived in the safety of a free country six-thousand miles away from Germany, did nothing to save the Jews of Europe, and even sent a boatload of Jewish refugees from Hitler back to Europe. Yet the critics of Pius are silent about Roosevelt.

Nevertheless, Pius could have done more to at least slow down the Holocaust. And I say this recognizing that Italy’s Catholic clergy saved many Jews, and that Pius, to his credit, had to be aware of this. What he could have and should have done was to announce that any Catholic — and any Christian for that matter — who in any way helps in the murder of innocent Jews is committing a mortal sin and will not attain salvation. In other words, he or she will go to hell.

This would have had no impact on the many Germans and other Europeans who had no belief in God or religion; but it would have had an impact on many who did.

I believe the same thing regarding Muslim terror. Muslim leaders — specifically, every imam in the world who is not a supporter of terror, the leaders of the most important Sunni institutions, such as the Al-Azhar Mosque and University in Cairo, and religious leaders in Saudi Arabia and the in Gulf states — must announce that any Muslim who participates in any deliberate attack on civilians goes to hell.

This must be announced as clearly and as repeatedly as, for example, Muslim condemnations of Israel.

Just as the promise of immediate entrance into paradise animates many Muslim terrorists, the promise of immediate hell would dissuade many Muslims from committing acts of terrorism. Just as the promise of 72 virgins animates many Muslim terrorists, the promise of hell would dissuade many Muslims from terrorism.

Whenever non-Muslims ask Muslim organizations about Muslim terrorism, these organizations trot out the various anti-terrorism statements they have issued. But these are largely useless because: a) they are usually issued by Western Muslim organizations; b) even when they are issued by Middle Eastern Muslims, they almost always include condemnation of “state terrorism,” which is Muslim-speak for condemnation of any use of force by Israel; and c) these statements usually also condemn non-Muslim terror, as if Christian or Jewish or Buddhist terrorism is as great a threat to humanity as is Muslim terrorism.

Therefore the statements that need to be made by every Muslim teacher, school, mosque and organization that does not support Muslim terror must be unequivocal. They need to state that any Muslim who targets any civilian for death — whether that civilian is Muslim, Christian, Jewish, Hindu or of no religion — goes to hell.

In addition, there need to be large Muslim demonstrations against Muslim terrorism. I understand that Muslim clerics who would organize such demonstrations in the Muslim world might be risking their lives. But what about Muslims in America and Europe?

There have been huge Muslim demonstrations against cartoons depicting Muhammad and any other perceived “insult” against Islam. But I am unaware of a single demonstration of Muslims against Muslim terror directed at non-Muslims.

And if morality doesn’t persuade Muslim leaders to issue such a statement and organize such demonstrations, perhaps self-interest will. To just about everyone in the world outside of academia and the media, Islam is not looking good. Muslim leaders should be aware that with Muslims burning Christian churches and Christian bodies in Pakistan, Iraq, Nigeria, Egypt and elsewhere, and the regular massacring of innocents by Muslim terror groups, the protestations by Muslim spokesmen that “Islam is religion of peace” are beginning to wear thin. For a religion that seeks converts, this is not a positive development.

On the other hand, perhaps not that many Muslim religious leaders do believe that Muslim terrorists are going to hell.
