Air Force Academy Called Out for Violating Constitutional Rights

WASHINGTON, March 14, 2014 /Christian Newswire/ — The Restore Military Religious Freedom Coalition comprised of 24 groups led by the Family Research Council and including legal groups such as Alliance Defending Freedom, Liberty Counsel, The Liberty Institute, and Thomas More Law Center, has announced that they stand ready to offer assistance to any Air Force Academy cadet who faces repercussions for writing a Bible verse on a hallway whiteboard that has been designated by the Academy for both official and personal use.

Earlier this week, a Bible verse (Galatians 2:20) was removed at the Air Force Academy after a complaint by an anti-Christian group. Yesterday, reports surfaced that cadets are protesting the censorship by writing Bible verses on other campus whiteboards. Last year, the Restore Military Religious Freedom Coalition launched a website, www.militaryfreedom.org, to support the religious liberties of America’s men and women in uniform.

Several members of the Restore Military Religious Freedom Coalition released the following statements in support of the cadets and religious liberty:

Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Jerry Boykin, Family Research Council’s Executive Vice President:

“This reflects that the cadets understand the Constitution and have a greater faith in the Constitution than their leaders. They are freely exercising their constitutional rights that they will be defending upon graduation,” concluded Boykin.

Michael Berry, Liberty Institute’s Senior Counsel and Director of Military Affairs:

“This is a blatant violation of Department of Defense Instruction (DODI) 1300.17 and the Constitution, “Berry observed. “But the Air Force seems to think that AFI 1-1′s neutrality towards religion requirement means forbidding religious freedom. If that’s true, then I suggest the Air Force officials read DODI 1300.17, which supersedes AFI 1-1 and guarantees religious freedom for all service members,” concluded Berry.

Gary McCaleb, Chief Solicitor and Executive Vice President for Strategy Implementation at Alliance Defending Freedom:

“Suppressing religion is wrong whether it is done behind an Iron Curtain or in a dorm hallway. Certainly such raw anti-religious discrimination has no place in America’s Air Force.”

Mathew Staver, Chairman, Liberty Counsel:

“This latest incident at the United States Air Force Academy reveals a fundamental misunderstanding of religious freedom. Not only is the notion that cadets have to abandon or hide their faith as a requisite of military service not supported by law, it is actually discriminatory to brave men and women of faith that desire to serve their country,” concluded Staver.

Richard Thompson, President and Chief Counsel,Thomas More Law Center:

“From the Revolutionary War to the present day, military leaders have understood that in times of danger and death, no physical courage can sustain the soldier other than Divine help. This understanding prompted Article 6 of the military Code of Conduct, which emphasizes a soldier’s personal responsibilities for his actions and trust in God. Thus, the actions of the Air Force to restrict this cadet’s free speech and the free exercise of religion because it offends some, is not only unconstitutional, but conflicts with the military’s own understanding of the importance of religion to our military men and women placed in harm’s way,” concluded Thompson.

Bill to Make the Fine $0 for Violating the Individual Mandate Passes by 90 Votes

posted on Mar, 6 2014 @ 12:32 PM

William Shakespeare said – a rose by any other name will still smell as sweet. This is a very simple, yet profound statement. The fine for not paying the individual mandate is not a fine at all, but a tax. You can call it what you want, but a rose is a rose, and a tax is a tax – even if they attempt to call it a “fine”.

The AHC bill was a unlawful bill, as it was proposed in a section of the government that is not responsible for creating a tax. The supreme court upheld the notion that it was a “fine” and not a “tax” because they are all puppets of the governing administration. This is simple politics at play, and it is nothing new.

There is nothing new under the sun, and this song and dance will continue until the end of time – so long as there is politics.

As citizens of the United States, we must make an effort to vote and educate people to the rule of law – and educate them primarily on what they can do to make the world a better place. Right now we have people doing what they want to do, simply because the majority are too ignorant to know what our ruler’s limits are. If the people truly knew what was constitutional and what was not they would not have the same passé attitude they have right now about the directions we are headed down.

But people are willfully ignorant – and they remain that way until something seriously hampers their daily lives. And by that time it is usually too late to do anything.

De Blasio’s Caravan Caught Speeding, Violating Traffic Laws

Another day, another set of outrageous examples of official disregard for the laws us little folk have to follow ‘or else’.

It’s certainly not that public figures flout traffic laws or that they do so openly and with little concern for the “Let them eat cake” message that incresingly sends to a public, growing less tolerant of it. After all, had this ONLY been about the new Mayor’s convoy blowing traffic laws like they were just kind suggestions, it wouldn’t be news at all.

Indeed..We must add a big cup of hypocrisy to make a true Sundae with a Cherry on top!

Sub-Title: Embarrassment Comes Just Days After Mayor Announced New Traffic Safety Initiative

NEW YORK (CBSNewYork) — Just days after Mayor Bill de Blasio announced an aggressive plan to prevent traffic deaths, CBS 2 cameras caught the driver of a car carrying the mayor violating a number of traffic laws.

But the NYPD responded Thursday evening that the mayor’s caravan, which is operated by police, sometimes has to use special driving techniques for protective reasons.

But of course…. ‘We must endanger you folks in the public as a necessary evil of insuring this one man is kept safe, above and beyond yourselves.’ We understand…They’re more important. Yes.. We do get it.

When the mayor announced his 62-point safe streets initiative, which includes lowering the speed limit to 25 mph, he said, “We want the public to know that we are holding ourselves to this standard.”

But Kramer reported the mayor failed to practice what he preached Thursday.

CBS 2 crews found Mayor de Blasio’s cars going through a stop sign at a Queens intersection, and that wasn’t the only traffic violation caught on tape.

Some days, commentary isn’t even needed. No explanation for the obvious. It is, after all, obvious. I didn’t make up what the man said about holding himself to the same standard…hours before doing just the opposite. That’s the kind of statement they need to make, in their own words, to be taken seriously for what it is.

Yikes!

UK violating Assange rights: Ecuador

Julian Assange giving a speech from the Ecuadorian Embassy in London on August 19, 2012.

Ecuador President Rafael Correa has accused Britain of “violating” the human rights of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange by denying the activist safe passage from the British capital.

In an interview with AFP in Paris on Friday, Correa said the future of the Australian campaigner remains in the “hands” of the UK government as he has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London for almost a year and a half.

“If (the British officials) want to keep him there for 30 years, he’ll stay there 30 years, but that would violate his human rights,” he stated.

Correa also suggested that Ecuador is still offering Assange asylum, adding the activist had the right “to demand asylum in the country of his choice.”

Last month, Ecuador’s Foreign Minister Ricardo Patino said Quito will have no “alternative” but to go to international tribunals if London rejects a proposal to submit the case of the WikiLeaks founder to a bilateral commission.

Moreover, Patino urged the British government to “respect Ecuador’s right to grant asylum” and allow the campaigner safely travel to the Latin American country.

Assange has been holed up in the Ecuadorian Embassy in London since June 2012 and has secured political asylum from the South American country after he lost a legal battle against extradition to Sweden where he is wanted for questioning over the sexual abuse allegations.

It is believed that Assange’s extradition to the North European country is a cover for sending him to the US, where he is wanted over the release of thousands of US’ classified documents about the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan on his whistleblower website.
