Jesse Jackson Enters Duck Dynasty Controversy

FNC: Reverend Jesse Jackson has weighed in on the controversy surrounding Duck Dynasty, comparing Phil Robertson to the driver who had ordered Rosa Parks to sit in the back of the bus.

The 67-year-old Robertson family patriarch and star of the mega-hit A&E reality show has unleashed a firestorm earlier this month after making anti-gay remarks in a interview with GQ.

Cracker Barrel pulls ‘selected’ Duck Commander merchandise

Cracker Barrel

In the wake of the controversial decision by A&E to suspend “Duck Dynasty” patriarch Phil Robertson from the popular show, one restaurant chain has decided to remove “selected products” from their shelves featuring the Duck Commander founder.

Southern-themed restaurant chain Cracker Barrel announced via their Facebook page Friday they would no longer sell products featuring the elderly Robertson. The company, though, will continue to sell other Duck Commander merchandise.

“Cracker Barrel’s mission is Pleasing People,” the chain wrote on the social networking site. “We operate within the ideals of fairness, mutual respect and equal treatment of all people. These ideals are the core of our corporate culture.”

The restaurant chain said they removed products “which we were concerned might offend some of our guests…” from their Old Country Stores.

However, according to Cracker Barrel’s post, they continue to evaluate the situation.

Since Robertson was suspended by A&E for anti-gay comments he made during an interview with GQ magazine, few advertisers have decided to stop sponsoring both the Robertson family and Duck Commander.

According to The Blaze“Duck Dynasty” gear, which includes bedding, outdoor equipment, clothing and jewelry, flew off Wal-Mart shelves.

And the show’s biggest sponsor, Under Armour, remains loyal to the “Duck Dynasty” crew. The company said Robertson’s comments were not a reflection of Under Armour’s, but said they had no plans to cut ties with Duck Commander.

“We are obviously aware of the situation,” the company said in a statement, according to TMZ. “And his comments are not indicative of Under Armour’s views.”

Since A&E decided to put Robertson on an indefinite hiatus, the “Dynasty” has said they are deciding whether or not they plan to continue working with the network.

Walmart Sells Out of "Duck Dynasty" Merch in Show of Support

‘Duck Dynasty’ merchandise is flying off Walmart’s digital shelves, with a variety of goods related to the popular A&E reality show out of stock as a furor rages over patriarch Phil Robertson’s anti-gay comments and his TV future.

The Robertson family has a merchandise empire worth $ 400 million, according to Forbes, with sales in Walmart acounting for about half of that amount.

And fans, despite the controversy, aren’t shying away from the Duck paraphernalia, The Daily Mail reported Friday. The array ranges from T-shirts to bedding, posters, watches and toys, but by Friday night, many of the items were listed as “out of stock online.”

Word of the shopping stampede was burning up social media as well, with fans spreading the word via Twitter.

“Duck Dynasty’s multi-million payday: WalMart sold out
A&E fired Phil, but he is LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK,” one tweeter observes, while another urges: “Wal-Mart has sold out of all #DuckDynasty items. Show your support for the Robertson family by purchasing here,” providing a link for the purchase.

The Dailly Mail quoted another tweet: ‘Your stores may look quite vacant when you pull down the Duck Dynasty merch. May want to double down on the Honey Boo Boo.”

A Walmart spokeswoman declined to comment to the newspaper.

According to Forbes, Walmart announced its best-selling item of apparel for both men and women this year was the show’s T-shirt.

“Walmart publicly dumped Paula Deen after the Southern chef’s headline-grabbing allegations of racism this past summer, although you can still find her cookware on Walmart.com,” wrote Forbes scribe Clare O’Connor.

“The question is whether the powers that be in Bentonville, Ark. believe Robertson’s vile homophobia will anger their shoppers the same way they clearly imagined Deen’s apparent racism would.”

The Robertson clan warned that they “cannot imagine” doing the A&E series without patriarch Phil Robertson who has been suspended indefinitely after he told GQ magazine that homosexuality was a sin and compared it to bestiality, among other things.

A&E has yet to publicly clarify what the future of the show might be, what they’ll do with their block of reruns, or what the suspension means, CNN reported Friday night.

Santorum Defends Duck Dynasty: GLAAD Is The "Leading Intolerant Organization"

RICK SANTORUM: This country was founded on freedom of religion and what we seen from the folks at GLAAD is exactly what they preach against. They preach against intolerance and they are in fact the leading intolerant organization out there when it comes to anybody who disagrees with their point of view. What Phil Robertson did that was so offensive to them was simply quote the Bible, and he did a pretty accurate job quoting the Bible, 1 Corinthians. And for him to be persecuted as he is for his religious beliefs and for quoting those religious beliefs and for stating them very explicitly — which he does repeatedly on the show, by the show — is pure intolerance. And here’s the point, Greta: is that people, particularly GLAAD and folks who disagree with them, what I would consider the radical LGBT movement, those folks see anybody who disagrees with them as simply a hater and a bigot. When in fact they are the ones who are being the intolerant ones.

Ann Coulter On Duck Dynasty Controversy: "This Is Not Good For The Gays"

ANN COULTER: He says you start with homosexuality, from there you go to bestiality, to having sex with this woman and that woman, and, look, the straight Christian, and I might add Judeo-Christian doctrine – sorry, no fornication.

That’s what the good book says. And to just cite standard morality that has been around for thousands of years and have this angry gay mafia gang up on you and demand your suspension has just gotten out of control. This is not good for the gays. (SOURCE: Steve Malzberg Show on Newsmax)

Raising Ducklings - Do You Know What it Takes to Raise Baby Ducks?

Raising ducklings are reasonably simple to do, if you stick to a few easy steps. The largely crucial thing that many people do not know is that ducks should by no means have medicated feed. The best thing to feed ducklings and goslings is a 21% \”non medicated\” starter feed. It is moreover a sound proposal to deposit a vitamin and electrolyte powder in the water to provide them a pleasant start. Ducks drink a good deal more water than chickens. Raising ducks can be an enjoyable experience and is not very hard if these few elements are supplied.

Ducklings do not take heat well, so be sure not to overheat them. They like a temperature of 90-92 degrees for the initial 3 days, then 85-90 degrees for days 4 to 7. Thereafter, decline the temperature by approximately 5 degrees for every week until they are fully feathered. Out of breath and drooping wings are a sign that they are too hot. They should continuously be able to move away from the high temperature. As soon as they leave the brooder, it is a useful idea to furnish them a heat lamp at night in favor of the initial week or so, except the weather is very hot. Every time make sure they have some shelter and a place to walk out of the sun. Raising ducklings is a fairly inexpensive operation, but as they get older the price increases.

When raising ducklings, be reminded that they like their feed wet, and adding a little water to the feed helps to keep them from choking. Sprinkle thinly chopped greens in their water to keep them fresh and clean, as they will not munch filthy or wilted feed. They will also appreciate fresh greens daily, and bugs and meal worms are a special treat.

Be sure to always have clean, fresh water available. It should be deep enough to get their heads submerged, to clean out their nostrils and prevent them from getting a condition called \”sticky eye\”, but they should not be able to get their bodies into the water. Duck feathers are waterproof for the reason that they oil them, and young ducklings cannot yield oil until they are several weeks old. When their mother raises them, she will oil their feathers for them, so they can go into the water at an earlier age than as they are artificially brooded.

Ducklings can have a chick waterer for the first week or two, and then they should contain something deeper. It is important to keep ducklings warm in the first week, especially during the first two days. All ducklings can be raised together after two weeks. Use a plastic bowl with 2\” chicken wire over the top, so they can get their heads in but can\’t get into the bowl. The water will need to be changed often, as ducks are dabblers and will get feed into their water constantly. Once they are fully feathered, they will be pleased about some swimming water. Continually make sure they can get out of the water, or they will drown. A ramp into and out of the swimming pool is a good idea, until they are big enough to get out on their own.

Ducklings make quite a untidiness while eating, and their droppings are prolific and wet. Pine shavings produce good bedding for ducklings. They must be kept clean and dry, so change bedding often. You can also raise them on wire mesh. It takes a LOT of time to care for ducklings.
