NSA’s spy gear: ANT is a secret weapon that hacks electronics worldwide

3 hours ago | Technology, US | Posted by Joshua Cook

From Samsung smartphones to Dell computers, Americans are being tracked by the NSA via electronic spy gear. Last week Snowden warned Americans in a Christmas message that big brother is watching. “We have sensors in our pockets that track us everywhere we go,” he said. Now Snowden has leaked the document that proves his claim.

One of the documents Snowden has reportedly leaked is a product catalog for spies and hackers at the NSA.

According to SPIEGEL, “a product catalog reveals that an NSA division called ANT (Access Network Technology) has burrowed its way into nearly all the security architecture made by the major players in the industry — including American global market leader Cisco and its Chinese competitor Huawei, but also producers of mass-market goods, such as US computer-maker Dell.”

The article claims that ANT specialists at the NSA’s department for Tailored Access Operations can remotely access, monitor, and manipulate data in electronics around the world. Electronic devices that cannot be attacked via the internet are intercepted and manually bugged. In some cases, the NSA actually intercepts packages to put “backdoors” in electronics.

SPIEGEL explains, “These NSA agents, who specialize in secret back doors, are able to keep an eye on all levels of our digital lives — from computing centers to individual computers, from laptops to mobile phones. For nearly every lock, ANT seems to have a key in its toolbox. And no matter what walls companies erect, the NSA’s specialists seem already to have gotten past them.”

ANT specialists can choose spy gear from a 50-page catalog to assist them in spying operations.

Some of the listed items are:

• Rigged monitor cable – $ 30 – Allows “TAO personnel to see what is displayed on the targeted monitor.

• GSM base station – $ 40,000 – Mimics mobile phone tower and allows cell phone monitoring.

• Computer bugging devices (50 pack) - $ 1 million – Disguised as normal USB plugs, it is capable of sending and receiving data via radio undetected.

SPIEGEL states that these American technology companies are not aware that the NSA has hacked their systems.

“Cisco does not work with any government to modify our equipment, nor to implement any so-called security ‘back doors’ in our products,” the company said in a statement.

Last week, Ben Swann, reported that U.S. District Judge William H. Pauley III ruled it was legal for the NSA to collect bulk meta-data of American’s phone records.

“One could argue that the ruling by a Federal Judge that the NSA spying program is legal was not only a horrible ruling, but based on his personal view and not grounded at all in law,” Swann said.

The lawsuit argues that the phone surveillance program violates both the First Amendment rights of free speech and association, and the Fourth Amendment’s protections against unreasonable searches and seizures. At least three other lawsuits challenging bulk data collection are pending in other federal courts. Attorney Brett Max Kaufman said the ACLU will appeal Friday’s ruling.

The newly leaked documents are striking, though. As the NSA revelations keep on coming, it could provide more evidence for civil liberty lawsuits.

Methods TV distributors Attract The Fascination Of Consumers

TV distributors are significantly becoming a lot more competitive with the advertising campaigns and tactics they use to get buyers. You must give credit to many of these suppliers because most of these techniques call for significant amounts of cash and creativeness to draw in attention to the products and frequently, even poach prospective clients from their opponents. This is a great time for many purchasers to request the types of packages that they\’ll receive when buying television sets as well as home entertainment products. Due to high rivalry, TV distributors will happily toss in a cost-free DVD player or perhaps a good set of audio speakers, that years before, would have been costing approximately 200-500 dollars.

Aside from giving freebies such as DVD players and speakers, TV distributors connect with famous companies that make them sell bundled deals. Certain television vendors give away gaming consoles, that certainly go along with the type of technology that latest televisions have. At times, big companies sell these types of bundles at quite cheap price ranges that numerous would find it hard to resist. These kinds of perks as well as freebies considerably entice those who might want the packaged item rather than the tv but carries on to buy because they feel like sellers are actually offering them with excellent savings.

Aside from tickling the fancies of people who like best buys, TV distributors acquire the customer\’s attention by means of advertising a lot. A lot of television brand names show their products over the globe by way of televisions, print ads and even the online world. Advertising needs a lot of money because it is useful. A lot of people correlate products with inventive commercials and advertising. The catchier and timelier the ad, the more consumers get interested with the product. On top of that, advertising make consumers recall the product and actually think about buying these products.

A different way to attract customers is to set up exhibits as well as displays and actually let folks watch movies to have a feel of the various models of televisions that the seller has. This is an excellent method to help them profile clients since many would sign up to newsletters and notices of sale. Furthermore, this is also a way to arrange sales on-the-spot since most television customers tend to be walk-ins. TV distributors also associate with banks to give exceptional installment schemes like 0% interest charges for a 12- or perhaps 24-month period. Making it possible for credit card installments speeds up their potential customers since people\’s credits get expanded. Some of people who can\’t manage to pay in cash can already avail LED or smart televisions due to these payment strategies.

Televisions are common devices that lots of individuals cannot live without. The on-going craze for TVs are the thinner, greater, more crisp and more energy-efficient; the better. An electronics cigarette is a great alternative for people who are tired of tobacco cigarettes and their potential health risks. An electronics cigarette is made with liquid nicotine and it gives off a water vapor that doesn\’t cause much harm to the body. An electronics cigarette is also affordable because most stores carry bargains on electronic cigarettes. Here are some ways you can research the electronics cigarette.

Another thing that\’s safe about e cigarettes is that you reduce the chances of house fires. Sometimes house fires are started when a tobacco cigarette smoker lays down a cigarette with a little fire in it. With an e cigarette you won\’t have this problem because if you lay down a cigarette on a table or on a piece of cardboard, you\’ll have a reduced chance of house fires.

If you want to support the local economy while getting a good electronic cigarette buy, you should purchase the cigarettes from a local manufacturer of electronic cigarettes. This is the eco-friendly way to get electronic cigarettes because there\’s no carbon footprint and you\’re keeping the workers employed and owner in business. When you visit the manufacturer, ask about the benefits of smoking his cigarettes and how it compares to other brands that are sold locally. If possible, sample the different flavors to get an idea of what you\’re purchasing.

Online cigarette retailers are the best ways to purchase the electronic cigarette that\’s right for you and if you want the best electronic cigarettes, you\’ll need to locate the best online cigarette retailer. A good online cigarette retailer should have a wide variety of electronic cigarettes and the retailer should also include some detailed product descriptions of the cigarettes. If an online cigarette retailer has invalid information on the website or doesn\’t have contact information, then this is a red flag.

If someone asks you \’Are electronic cigarette safe\’, you can gather the research to answer this question by reading health journal articles on electronic cigarettes. Another idea is to read recent books about electronic cigarettes and send e-mails to the editors of cigarette industry trade journals. You can attend seminars on green living as they often feature discussions on the benefits of electronic cigarettes. Local TV health shows sometimes carry news segments on electronic cigarettes and you can interview random electronic cigarette smokers as part of the research.

Sometimes gas station stores have sales on ecigarettes but this the exception rather than the norm because a majority of the cigarettes sold there are tobacco cigarettes.

The Arduino is something that has been experiencing exponential growth in recent years amongst many technical hobbyists because of its versatility in electronics projects. It pragmatically acts like the brain of any system and allows for the communication between inputs and outputs. The ADXL345 is an example of something that can be combined with the Arduino to create a powerful platform for automation design.

Because of the variety of Arduino boards, such as the Arduino MEGA 2560 or the Arduino UNO, there is a wide selection of projects to choose from for beginners and veterans alike. Once the basics of electronics engineering are understood when working with this microcontroller, things like the LM555\’s Schmitt trigger and L293D can be incorporated for more advanced projects.

A pulse width modulation signal produced the Arduino\’s crystal oscillators can be monitored on an oscilloscope. The Aktakom oscilloscope is a great hobby oscilloscope for students to use for this purpose because it is very cost-effective yet produces reliable results. This oscilloscope also has very large screen for digital signal processing and analysis, but it definitely helps with viewing the properties of different AC signals as well.

When things like the L293D motor driver chip are used along with the AVR-based microcontroller, more advanced programming techniques are often required. Because the AVR is programmed in C, many turn to their knowledge of this powerful programming language to amplify their projects. The internet offers a great wealth of tutorials regarding programming the AVR and using it with the LM555\’s Schmitt trigger, for example.

A Schmitt trigger in the 555 timer is what allows for this IC chip to be used as a signal generator. Because of the threshold and discharge pins on the LM555, a signal generator can be created using the Schmitt trigger which simulates that the Arduino does already by itself. Because the Arduino has all of the LM555 features and Schmitt trigger capabilities already built it, most people do not build a 555 timer circuit for practical purposes but more for the fun of it and for educational use.

The Arduino is an Italian microntroller, but it is widely used around the world. It is available for purchase online, but many local DIY electronics shops are offering it for sale in-store now. Its popularity has grown over the years, and many schools and educational institutions are taking advantage of its versatility. It certainly caters to novices as well as experienced electronics hobbyists.

The Greatest Cell Phone Accessories for Movie Viewing

The Apple phone, the newest smart phone made by Apple, has made quite a buzz with the online Apple community (and other communities as well), making it one of the most popular smart phone choices today. In just less than four months, it has made more than millions of purchases from different countries worldwide, surpassing the sales made by its predecessor, the phone. The Apple phone is truly one of the most successful smart phone models today.

The Apple phone is the successor of the popular Apple phone. While on the outside it may not look any different from each other, the difference lays on the internal mechanisms of both smart phone models. A good example of the difference between the two is the different processors installed in each one: the phone has the A4 Chip while the phone has the Dual-Core A5 Chip. This alone makes the Apple phone doubly-powerful compared to its predecessor. Of course, it\’s not only the processor that received an upgrade, as there are other improvements as well done on other parts of the smart phone, including the capacity of the camera, which is now at 8MP (5MP on phone), making it ideal for recording videos; its total talk time, which is given an extra hour; and lastly, the introduction of a built-in assistant, \”Siri\”.

And with the new features that come with the new Apple phone, new accessories are also made available in order to boost the effectiveness of these new features and capabilities. Old, but vital, Apple phone accessories such as Apple phone case and Apple phone screen protector are still available today. Of course, there are newer accessories as well, such as the Apple phone battery packs, and the Apple phone data cable. It is important that you should purchase these accessories as well so that you can make use of the Apple phone\’ different functionalities.

Battery packs are very important especially if you are using all the new functionalities that the Apple phone offers. Like the previous iPhone models, the phone only lasts for 20 hours (on idle mode) and using these functionalities drains the battery life faster. By using battery packs, you can make use of the phone\’s different functionalities longer. Battery packs are indeed very essential especially if you are on long trips and there are no available compatible electrical outlets to charge your phone with. Car mount chargers are also available as well so you can charge it while you are on your way to your destination.

Another vital accessory are headsets, Bluetooth headsets specifically. Using these headsets lets you listen to your favorite tunes and watch videos, be it online or offline, without disturbing the people around you. Also, with Bluetooth headsets, you can make use of the newest functionality of the phone, which is the built-in assistant \”Siri\”. With \”Siri\”, you don\’t need to key in the commands or navigate through your entire menu in order to input commands. Voice commands will be enabled so you can just request \”Siri\” to open up your needed application and it will do the rest. Of course, make sure that the headset that you buy can easily recognize your voice so that you won\’t have problems using the \”Siri\” functionality.

There are many accessories available for the Apple phone, but you should only purchase the ones that are essential for yourself. Of course, opting for all of the available accessories is alright, but it is entirely optional. Focus more on accessories that can protect your phone, as well as accessories that can improve its various capabilities and functionalities. Wireless phone accessories for Apple such as the Apple iPhone 5 cell phone accessories and the cover for Apple iPhone 5 will help you keep your mobile phone protected.

Apple tablet accessories help maintain the perfect look of your Apple tablet device. Use an Apple tablet cover and an Apple tablet holster for this.
